had a real urge for apple pie and custard, so tonight i cooked chili and chips, followed by apple pie. lessons were learnt. the chilli and chips was as usual, yummy, but the pie had issues.
i usually cut the apple into largish chunks, normally this is fine , but Mrs B complained that some chunks were under cooked and hard. then i found a lump , a very tasteless bit of chewy apple- i had to spit it out. very odd, there were a few of these chewy hard chunks, not at all like bramleys
then i remembered i'd been doing all the prep work on one small area of worktop, and must have chucked a chipped spud onto the pile of chopped apple. i wondered how just 2 apples was enough for
2
pies
anyway , as a recipe , i can't really recommend it

Cloves taste a lot better than spuds! :)

Can't imagine it would have been the best apple pie ever!
Does anyone here have a recipe for apple pie which was made as usual but then evaporated milk poured through the hole in the pastry? Think the processapple was rolled in cornflour and put in pie raw. Had this recipe years ago and it was really good...lost it though!
