Well, seeing that you are asking... we are off to 'Camp Brownhills' to attend their St Patricks do.
Usually we 'wild' it on their 'aire' with hook up, showers, swimming pool, jacussi and tv room, but this weekend we really are 'wilding it' cos we have to do without the hook up. :lol-049:
Anyone else going?

Ambleside for the weekend, lots of walking, local ales and a fine meal out on saturday night.

If the forecast stays true, we're in for a wet one, so if you're in the lakes I can feel a lot of brew tasting by log fires coming on.

I'm getting too old to enjoy getting soaked through, "Challenging nature".

We'll be on a C&CC rally at Arnside. Hope the rain stays north of us (sorry scek).
regards
Allen

If it rains, leave the rally site and drive round to the Ship Inn and park there. Otherwise it is too far to walk in the wet.

Hi *****, if you get time can you post a review of the site, & prices of course.
Used to go fishing at Haverigg many years ago.

thanks

HOSPITAL :(
All my hill walking has damaged my foot and I go in for an operation at 17:00 today.
Will be laid up for 5 to 6 weeks so the motorhome will be going no where for a while.
But I will be back on the hills asap and soaking up our summer hopefully
Enjoy.

Anyone been recently, is it still ok to overnight?

At home this wkd.
  • Hoping to convert the plank of wood I've got sitting across my seats in to a proper table
  • Make a hinged section for the fridge to hide under
  • Then another for the loo.
  • Need to fit proper curtains instead of blackout blinds.
  • Find the fault with the screenwash pump.
  • Recharge the batteries.
  • Fix the intermittant dash light.
  • Re-attach the rear speakers.
  • Buy seat cushions & material and get my sister to cover them.
  • Carpet the bulkhead & side door.
  • Wood lamm the floor
  • Plug the old water drain point in the floor.
  • Connect the external hook-up point to the batteries
Might have missed a couple of items, the more I sleep in it, the more I find I've not done yet!!
I suppose the Alloys, TV and a canopy can wait a bit longer!!

Ended up in Southport. Don't think we overnighting as everywhere is pay and display for short stay and No overnight parking allowed. Tucked up down a side street at mo, just had late lunch and chillin. We were parked on Rotten row earlier and had a 2 hour walkabout when we spotted this dead end street. It's got 2 hour free parking on some if it but rest is very old and worn double yellows so we risking it on them as we are sat inside. Weather has been great so far just a shame about the overnight parking. :D

Follow the coast road towards Churchtown (North towards Preston).

There is a free car park used daytime by twitching fraternity on the left just through the Pelican crossing. No facilities but quiet.

A nice weekend...parked up and 'wilded' in the Brownhills car park on Friday night (with other 'vans), we were moved into the Brownhills site on Sat morning, directed by a marshal, right next to the A1 :mad2: a tad noisy, but was told by the marshal that the A1 gets quieter at night (yeah right!) we decided we would give it a go!!!! We cycled into Newark, had a look around and then followed the river/canal back to Brownhills later that day.
Obviously we had to have a look at what we cannot afford in the showroom and outside at the second hand ones.
We saw one for £70,000, but 'er indoors said nope we can't have that cos it 'aint got a drainer!! :lol-053:

The entertainment that evening (St Patricks bash) was a good laugh with most having a go at the Irish dancing, even 'her indoors' tried to get me up (I don't think so!), got a few ciders down my neck, just to take away the A1 noise you understand! and bimbled back to the van, to be woken at 04:00 by the sound of lorries rumbling down the A1 (what a surprise!). A full fat boy breakfast and back home.
At least we got out I suppose

Wints, I posted as per your review request. I take it as you have made no comment, you must have missed it!

Hi *****, I did see it but just as we were setting off friday morning for the meet at Arnside. The good folk of Lakeland DA declared it to be a free meet as we turned into the field.
Lovely walk through the fields into Arnside in the afternoon.
Lots of rain friday night and up to saturday mid-day, then lots of sun. Walked into Arnside again, but along the estuary flood defence banking this time. Wonderful views of the viaduct and over to Grange.
Lots of sunshine today as well, then home this afternoon.
Good w/e with lots of friendly vanners & tuggers
Your review of Haverigg is very tempting, think we'll try it this spring / summer, thanks.

yes we've stayed there twice since christmas. both times in the more central car park and were on our own. still ok for wilding.

Does Milton Keynes count as a nice place to go??

There on Sunday to see daughter & family, if weather OK will drift north over next two days.

Only returned from Ambleside on Monday (2 days ago) and off tomorrow to the dealer to have a little warranty job done and will be staying on a nearby campsite while testing.
