I see the weather is now changing from VERY mild to VERY wet & windy - especially on the west coast. We were going to Aldeburgh to see in the New Year but a change in circumstances may mean we'll be at home - Good luck to those brave or mad enough!

We're off to western isles, scotland, for a week.

Should be interesting:D

Camping in Western Isles

May not be a good choice...sitting here on Skye at 8.05pm....in a warm office...wirh a howling gale outside. And this is supposed to be the best day of the week

We have been. before in high winds/storms.
Van rocked like a boat, looked like a fire hose had been pointed at the windows due to the rain. Very wild. At 2am drove and parked in Portree behind a high building for shelter. In the morning, surrounding area looked trashed by the storm.

Very exciting night though.

I often think it's those kind of memories you remember most fondly......

High winds in Cornwall

I usually run my MH once a week up the cliff road to moves its parts when I am not on the road. It began last night and the forecast is a very windy and wet weekend. Living only 200metres from the ocean the winds are one hell of a problem for high vehicles. I have witnessed a couple of vans blown over, over the years. Will skip taking a run this weekend.

where in aldeburgh

This is our favourite place and go there at least twice a year (more next year as have the clampett mobile) - we always stay at church farm -(have baby and dogs so the comfort is a necessity) wondering where you would go for new year? I know you can park up near the martello tower

Mrs Meeke,
We were going to stay up by the tower until things changed, now hope to go end Jan - early Feb. When we went over that way for a long weekend we also used Church Fm for shower, water and loo empty - very nice people.
Perhaps we'll see you there sometime - Happy New Year!

We wild camped thru Christmas and new year, windows and door open for ventilation, ......... but we were experiencing temps around 28 degrees C in Spains indian summer.

Should still be there, but alas, Mrs Voxy's ill health forced our return to grey skies and woolie undies !!!

Voxy.

:p Did go into the Peak District (bit kinder, weather wise), afraid to admit as well did stay on a small CL, but we really enjoyed our Barbeque on new years eve, watching the local (over Buxton) firework display. Our next expedition is in a couple of weeks:) now, over to the lovely isle of MULL for the first full week of wild camping, heres hoping for good weather, but i'm sure it will still be totally enjoyable!
