Going to Anglesey this weekend (for about 2 weeks) looking for a cheap basic campsite ideally around Newborough/Malltraeth area. Bit difficult for us to wildcamp for that long & we need to pitch a tent for the daughter as well, she is doing the direct access motorcycle training

Hi Ed,

Thanks Eg, I am a member of the CCC & the MCC, I searched the CCC for a site, Ty Croes Farm 2010 price was £15-£16 (with hook up) that's just for us the daughter will have her own tent + car + motorbike (that was why we were going with her so she can use her own motorike). Not looking for anything other than a basic site. The daughter has found a site closer to the motorcycle place for about £6 for her in a tent but it would cost us £11. We are now thinking that she will have to stop at that site & we will probably wildcamp a bit or use one of the CCC holiday rally sites up at Church Bay.

Just called Ty Croes & the cost is £18 without electric & £23 with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where's she doing the CBT?

At the race track? Do they have car parking?

The facilities are very good at anglesey race track i stayed there last bank holiday weekend watching the bike racing 2 nights for £21 better facilities than some camp sites .If her test is there phone them and ask if you can camp over

She has already done the CBT, bought her own 125 after failing her first try at the test (clipped a cone doing the swerve test). She decided as she is on holiday to have a go at the direct access at Malltraeth Anglesey Motorcycle Training. She is a competent rider with now over a years riding experience, she passed her car test well over 10 years ago.

Ty Croes is a rip off, as is the garage the owner owns as well in Gaerwen in my opinion.

If you would consider wilding, there is a lovely spot going towards Aberfaw from Newborough, on the left hand side just before the estuary in the Foresry Commission Car Park. Don't go into the one on the right - they lock it!

Not a bad idea being locked in for the night  :sleep-027: as long as they let me out the next day. Will have a look for the car park you suggest, looking at the wild camping spots there seems to be quite a few around that area.

There's loads, but a lot are big layby's by the side of the road - I think I supplied them all. The one in Maltraeth is particularly good!
