Next week sees the Motorhome and Caravan show 2011 arrive at the NEC.

Just wondering if anyone is going?

YIP we're going:dance: ...not been before so looking forward to it. Hoping to grab a few bargains

I've hovered over this site for a while now but only ever posted in the POI threads so hello everyone.

We're going too - where are people staying overnight?

Yes, I'll be there on the Tuesday. Staying on the CC Temporary campsite Monday & Tuesday night.

We were going to stay longer but my wife is recovering from an op and can't travel at the moment.

We will be there Tuesday, and will be looking for somewhere to wild camp Monday and maybe Tuesday night. Can't use campsite (and no point) as may not be around till midnight Monday. Was hoping to just park at NEC lol.....

Ideas welcome...

I hope to get along, maybe at the weekend. Got free tickets from another wild motorhome forum :)

If a forum asks for free tickets, I think they will give you 10 pairs to give away to the members via an easy competition, to promote the show. Maybe a thought for the Jan/Feb show ?

They won't let you park overnight at the NEC, security clears the car parks. Must be loads of places round there though. Excellent stealth camping location - there are many villages and built up areas within a short distance.

I wouldn't recommend the CC temp site. Another complete rip off: £27.50 to park like a sardine in a carpark:

Not going this year but last year we spent the night before at Hopwood services on M42 £8 for the night with 1 breakfast included.

Wont be going again. Came away last October with a Hymer after asking how long it would take to have one imported from Germany. I know, I should have kept my big mouth shut but when all is said and done me and Jan love it to bits.

Have a ball at NEC but watch what you say.

The Toby Carvery at Stonebridge on the A45 has been checked out before as a pub stopover and is only a mile away (if you want somewhere semi official with a large car park)

Toby Carvery
Stonebridge Island
Coventry Road, Coventry CV7 7HL

They do a daytime carvery menu for £5.75 at most of them (check with venu) : http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/pdf/tobycarvery-carvery-daytime.pdf

Probably would spend less than £9 inc drinks for a good meal and car park overnighting free :) I think you have to be seated before 7pm to get the daytime offer but as the NEC packs up at 5.30 to 6.00 it would be ideal.

We are going on Thursday, got a doctors appointment on Wed. so we will travel down on Wed. evening. Will stop at a layby just outside Clent (think it's already listed on the POI's) nice & quiet & it's only a half hour drive from the NEC. We stayed at the Toby Carvery last year, asked if it was ok to stay if we had a meal, we were told no problem staying & not to feel obliged to buy anything, it was just as well as they had pretty well sold out of most of the food.

Not really after anything but might think of another van if the price is right (our Adria will be due for it's first MOT next month so time for a change) I fancy getting an A class again. We were lucky at last years show, the wife won a years free insurance & I won a bottle of wine, previous year we won a free return crossing with Norfolk line.

Forgot to say that we won tickets for the show as well.

Nec

I am going to the NEC next week, staying on the CC holiday site Wed & Thurs nights So I can spend the entire Thurs at the show, then off to Yarmouth for 2 nights, via home in Southend to pick the dogs up.

I live about 2 miles from NEC.
Park on Hatchford Brook golf course car park. No height barriers.

We are going Thursday night Phil, looking around Friday. From your question, have you booked a secret pitch there, and want to suprise us. Is there a prize for the first to find it? Lol.

I booked in by phone for the tickets, was then passed on to the on-site booking office. Apart from close parking,
they also have water, showers, toilets, and provide everning entertainment. The fee for this was £27 for the three of us, and had we booked the tickets through this office. We would have avoided the extra £1 fee applied when I booked. Usually they are full months before, but plenty left two weeks ago. Well worth a try, the only down side is arriving the night before, as we have to vacate the site to the car park, before 10am on Friday.

Rgds Graham.

I understand they only have spaces on Monday and Sunday nights, as of yesterday.

However, I think if you turn up 'on spec' they will usually find a space somewhere for you.
