Any Idea's warmly Welcome

I have a 53 plate Bessacarr 765, 6 berth fixed bed, has everything only done 10.500 miles also a fitted satelitte with 21" tv.
I am retiring in Dec & me & wife want to tour Europe most of the time. So looking to swop it for a smaller van as only 2 of us.
Anyone know the best way to advertise it for a swop?

Cheers

If you intend spending most of your time in a van then I would recommend that you keep the one you have.

From what I have read, you will need your own space from time to time and that is not possible in a smaller van. The phrase 'stir crazy' springs to mind.

Hopefully, some of the fulltimers will give you good advice.

The wife and I are thinking of fulltiming and if we do, we will be getting rid of our 27' 7 berth van and getting an RV of at least 30' in length. Mind you, we have 6 dogs as well.

Good advice from Maingate. Your MH sounds good for what you intend. Give it more thought before you make a decision. Good Luck.

We've just been through this exact issue. We sold our old Merc Autotrail and as there's usually only two of us now we were thinking possibly campervan or small motorhome. After much looking and thinking we have gone for another decent sized one on the premise I am as happy driving something that size as a car, fuel consumption between ours and a two berth version of the same is pretty insignificant and it gives us space and comfort.

Also we like being able to meet people and ask them in for a coffee etc... so space and seating was an issue.

You've clearly got a fantastic motorhome - I too would be inclined to keep it, unless there's a particular reason for not wanting to do so (would actually prefer to be driving something physically smaller etc....)

changing your van

maingate's advice is spot on.

we tour europe for months at a time, and our biggest problem is space.

there is only 2 of us and at times our 6 berth seems quite cramped.

at least you know the van you have and the mileage is miniscule.

as said time for a rethink in my oppinion:tongue::tongue:

I agree with the comments above - we live most of the year in our 7 metre long 6 berth van and it is very comfortable but if we are confined to barracks for two or three days because of the weather then it is very easy to get cabin fever (especially if she wants to watch a different tv programme!). A smaller van might seem attractive in good weather and it can get down smaller roads and into smaller parking spaces but overall, I'd rethink and hang on to the van you've got. But whatever, you'll have great time - we've been doing this for almost 10 years and don't regret a single day (even the windy ones!). Happy travels.

We have done a couple of three month trips in our 21ft van, a Bessacarr E625....unless you have done it before, you will find out a lot about each other in that time and it can be difficult at times.

We are upgrading to 27 or 28 ft...though about RV, but didn't want the rotten fuel economy or to lose the ability to squeeze through tight places.

I don't think you would see any benefits with downsizing, unless there are particular things you don't like about your existing van and with it being a Bessecarr, that is entirely possible.:ninja:

I was thinking of ferry prices, size in aires, cost on motorways & easier parking in towns or cities.
I know it would be better when at a site, but have taken in your advice. Thank You.

Ferry prices - our 7 metre long van regularly crosses the Channel for between £30 and £50 - I doubt you could get a smaller van across for much less.

Size in aires - never had a problem fitting into aires anywhere (and we have used a lot!)

Cost on motorways - can't comment because we NEVER use motorways (we are retired; we are not in a hurry; and there is too much to enjoy along the way!)

Easier parking in towns and cities - you might have me there but it is rare that we have a real problem (except in England!)

Happy travels.
