may be a daft thread ,but here goes . which of the ads on here or tv annoy you the most . i will start off with that annoying wonga ad on here with some geriatric loan shark with wrinkly socks winking at me wanting to lend me money a over 4 thousand percent apr , and the one on telly with the stupid opra singer trying to get me intrested in some comparison site . that voice and that stupid tash i would love to wrap it round his neck .many more get me mad but these are just a couple to start off

The ads are designed to get a reaction from you and get you to remember the product, looks like they are doing their job..

Not much good getting a reaction when the reaction is a strong determination never to buy the product! The one that peeves me is the automatic pump for antibacterial handwash. It says "never touch a germy pump again" but the product is supposed to kill germs. Doesn't it work?

I have the same feeling about that automatic pump, Teffy. It doesn't matter how many germs are on the container if you only touch it before you wash your hands! But the adverts that really get up my nose are the ones that begin: "Have you been mis-sold loan insurance in the past billion years..............?" If I had one of those automatic pumps, I'd throw it at the screen every time they appear.

On the other hand, I really like those ads with Madness and Lemmy and the slogan "slow the pace" (or something like that). The only problem is they are advertising gnat's piss so there's no chance of them influencing my buying habits!

what about the tap you turn it on first then wash your hands and then turn it off ........

Upcoming TV programmes

The most irritating TV ads are those that pop up to show the next 2 or 3 programmes and intrude into the programme you are already watching. The last 30 seconds gets squashed into half the screen so that the other half can show 3 programme times, which you probably already know anyway and can always check the TV guide if you're that interested. AND the current soundtrack gets turned down for the voiceover even if the talking hasn't finished and you then struggle to hear it. :mad2:

i try to avoid the ads as much as possible! got to agree the opera singer is the worst for me. having said that if they are hoping to get rich quick with me watching them they will have a long wait.

I agree the annoying singing fat man!!!aaaahhhhh
and the "we buy any car"!!!!

Adverts? we pause and record so we can FF through them... what does annoy me is the 5 minute precis of what you saw in the last 15 minute section. Just in case you forgot in the break...

Saw this ad online earlier...
"Men and women in uniform....Police dating"..........

Yes, I think they should!:heart::hammer: It's criminal!

I do however, enjoy the 'Compare the Meerkats' adverts...

Those "we buy any car" people just don't leave you alone, I looked into selling them my old mondeo they offered my £75 but they charge between £45 - £75 admin charges and I would have to deliver the car my self. It was a good runner but needed more moneys worth of welding doing than the car was worth so I sold it for scrap got £250 for it and the bloke picked it up on a low loader. That was a year nad a half ago and they still ring and email asking if I'm still interisted in selling them my car, someone needs to update the system.

We are geting Irish Sky at work and the insurance ads are dire, you have some old crooner trying to make a song out of just the phone number 22 22 22 0898, he sings surely the number should be 0898 22 22 22!

They even have a adventure park called Tayto park, bless, only the irish could come up with that one.

On the other hand the Cravendale ad with the cats with aposable thumbs makes me chuckle every time.

Squibby.

PS for those of you not up to speed with the irish sense of irony Tayto park is a potato theamed park!!!

Bet theres nothing there of interest just like the irish potato store of old.

Squibby.

Hi, what I find most annoying are those those adult ads that Phil keeps bombarding me with on this site.

" Marital aides for the older gentleman."

I just get this feeling that he knows me to well.

Dezi

Turn off those ads

I had forgotten there were ads on this site, then I remembered that full members have the luxury of turning them off. Another selling point as well as the POI downloads.

Here's another annoying TV ad. Did you know that there was only one period drama book ever written? It seems that every year there are adverts for yet another one-off drama, or a mini series, or a film release. I'm talking about JANE EYRE of course.:sleep-027:
