Passports checked at the border control and a painless drive abroad ...

Into Yorkshire ...
Overlooking the bright lights of Holmfirth ...
A good 30 minutes drive from home,

Cracking camping and Caravan club small site ...
Toilets/shower/chemical dump etc
£16 a night (electric hook up if you want it for extra charge )

Great views and very chilled owners .

Locals seem (mostly) friendly

I love Yorkshire too Trixie.

You are right though, sometimes you don't need to travel far to have a great time. We used to have a permanent pitch by a lake just 5 miles or so from our house and on a nice day you could be anywhere in the world.

It was always the same on the boat, local surroundings look so different from the river and we could moor up anywhere and have the place to ourselves.

Just got back from Crowdecote, Derbyshire, about 25 miles from home. We intended to climb the Dragons Back, took one look at it and decided not to. Near vertical climbs and/or descents are for younger and fitter people!
Cracking campsite until the weekend crowd arrived and wonderful pub, The Pack Horse, 300 metres away. Good real ale and humongous meals at a reasonable price.
