Another solar panel ?

Seen these a while back, thing new models will have double the duration with 200 plus miles before a charge.

Is it the way of the future in areas of limited sunshine. Step son and wife have just bought a Nissan Leaf as a second car just to use for the daily commute because it can be charged at work FOC. Wonder how long that will go on for when they finish up with a car park full of battery powered cars all topping up at the companies expense.

With our Government saying that all vehicles will have to be battery powered by 2040 and wanting to bring the date forward it could be interesting times for the Caravan and MH users. Stick a two ton caravan on the back of an electric car and its not going to pull it that far and how on earth are you supposed to charge it up with charging points buried in the corners of car parks. Same will apply to MHs as well only they will have to look for charging stations without hight barriers in the way.

I can see local delivery trucks working as they have a limited range and lots of stops but think they will struggle on long distances.

Perhaps the Hydrogen fuel cell will come into its own. Certainly cannot see how the Electric MH is going to work. M&CC etc will have to rethink the way they charge for electric as these beasts are going to be supping power all night.

Will it ever happen. Its got a long way to go and lots of hurdles to get over and are they going to put NO OVERNIGHT SLEEPING on the Electric Charging Points

Green nonsense again.

Solar panels can produce " up to 3000w". At this time of year in Scotland this will be about 30w during daylight hours. The huge solar panel array on my workshop roof is rated at 3.8kw i.e. it can produce "up to 3800w". These are all aimed southwards too unlike the panels on this vehicle - at least half of which will be in shadow producing virtually nothing. At the moment they are producing about 0.5kwhr per day. So with a motor of say just 50kw that should propel the camper for one hundredth of an hour - about 3.5 minutes. And that assumes the battery is 100% efficient, which obviously it wont be.You would possibly be able to drive it for a couple of minutes a day. More Green nonsense.
Even in summer here with long daylight hours i would be very surprised if you could drive this for more than an hour a day when its been a day of full sunshine, and maybe only a third of that on a cloudy day.

Ahh but look at that lovely rear lounge. I've always preferred a rear U shaped lounge layout, what a great place to relax for a few days while you wait for the thing to recharge!
