Another one lost

So let me get this right,if you now pay the £10 a night there will be no human sh one t left behind, in my eyes its folk using tents and car day trippers who do this as they dont have a on board loo, fact is campervans are a easy target because they stick out like a sore thumb to Joe public who dont have one or want to understand the workings of.

It’s what some on here want. Councils to take notice of wild campers and provide facilities for them. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

In Elie the Harbour is run by a Harbour Trust (not the Council). About 10 years ago I was in discussion with some of the Board about allowing parking for motorhomes off Season (the Harbour gets too busy for all year round motorhome parking). Sadly it was not the majority view of the Board members and never happened. I would pay £10 for a night in the Council Car Park as it is a handy stop over on the meander North.

When the alternative is a blanket restriction on overnighting then, with its drawbacks, this is probably a good move. The permitted number seems a bit limiting but if the alternative is a blanket prohibition then this is the better of the alternatives. No restriction whatever would be the ideal and what most work for. This council is trying to control; not provide us with a facility to attrct us. This is better than prohibition.

I had been trying to think where this has been done recently and someone reminded me of Helmsley

https://www.visithelmsley.co.uk/awa...uces-free-overnight-motorhome-parking-spaces/

... where I worried about numbers there too. But, in the three or four years since the town introduced limited, permitted parking for motorhomes I've not heard of any problems. Probably helped by those who would not be seen dead in Helmsley so self-limiting the number of spaces needed!

There were problems somewhere though, if somebody can remember it. Not too long ago a car park (not sure Council, or supermarket maybe) where motorhome bays had been marked. Someone here was complaining about them. Motorhomes parking in two or cars parking in one – or somethng. Can anyone remember? Not too long ago.

If the alternative is a prohibition, why would anyone object? I'm interested.

What's not to like about Helmsley? Good walks from the town, a dog friendly micro brewery, three dog friendly pubs and two fish and chip shops.

I have spoken with Robbie twice now, and Robbie knows his stuff.
You only had to read the detailed survey report to see that they had done their homework.
Robbie is well aware that we are easy targets, and of the treatment dished out elsewhere. He sees us completely differently from the il informed short sighted brigade, who’s solution is putting up barriers. He sees us as responsible people who will take care of the carparks, even reporting poor behaviour by others.
If this works out with Elie and Kingsbarns it will be extended to other parts as well.
Heres hoping that others will look at this as a model for dealing with us.
So here’s hoping that things go well.
Also the human faeces found in kingsbarns was almost certainly not from a Motorhome, but we seemed to be getting tagged with this. But talking to Robbie I think he thinks likewise. The tables have been vandalised by morons with barbecues lighting them on the plastic tables, and that was not us, but the same type of morons who plagued the Loch Lomond country park with such pathetic behaviour.
