Annual costs of wild camping ?

Hi has anyone costed out the annual costs of wild camping ? or kept a record ?

soooo you don't pay vehicle Tax or Insurance ? and you never use any diesel and you don't buy any food ?
I can see you don't pay the bills and do the budgeting :D

Thats not the cost of wilding that is the cost of running a motorhome ?
As there are so many variables as to whether you use camper all year or how far you travel it becomes a question you cannot answer ?

How do you work that out ?

I'm not asking for the costs of running a motorhome am I ????

If you live in a motorhome for a year there are a lot of costs involved but I'm assuming that you have not yet done this .

Hopefully there will be someone along later that has

I don't understand your answer ?

Are you a troll ?

if not why go to the trouble of replying with such an unhelpful and irrelevant response ?

I was hoping that there were some decent people on this forum but its not looking too favourable so far . This place is definitely gone downhill

well the annual cost for me is the min i can make it if iam here iuse gas electric and food if iaway iuse gas electric food fuel ok so i have one more variable which id fuel but if away use less gas here at home and if away ten to use very lttle electric use more if iat home so it balance it self out .the cost of running the van is the same as using a car which i would and do need.couldnt manage without car at this moment in time.am getting i think it worked it out at 51 to the gallon

hOW MUCH DOES IT COST ?

WELL ITS NOT PEANUTS IS IT!!!

I have to admit I was mortified when I had to pay the road tax for my L Reg 2.5 Transit, its only £30 or so for my 4 yr old Focus and £0 for my Series 2a Land Rover so £180 for the shed on wheels was quite a shock.:mad2: Insurance was cheapish cos I am fairly old !!! Happy days. Otherwise it is as cheap as you want to make it.

Actually it seems to be a bit of a silly question from a free member....who then answers the posts with an irate manner...seems to be a troll post and perhaps might be best ignored.

plus viktor may be right, someone asks how long is a piece of string then gets pissy when theres no answer

Collective noun for bankers - a wunch :)

(Think about it, and a certain Mr Spooner ... )

As pointed out by others, I suppose the opening poster would need to be more specific with his questioning, but, from memory, and just in case it may help somehow,
I read on this forum a figure of £15K minimum per annum.

Now just what that entails I do not know, but take it from me, there ain't no free lunch in this world except for the very lucky, and, nobody's luck lasts for ever.

One overhead that is frequently neglected seems to be all the dead-money associated with keeping a vehicle legally on the road PLUS any normal costs arising from main residence which many folk also have.

I think you have jumped the gun a bit here peanut, I don't think Basildog's reply was really unhelpful. just fishing for a bit more information. It was quite an open ended question. You will usually find a bit of sarcasm or banter on any forum, otherwise they would be boring. But if you sift through the various replies, I am sure you will get the information you are after.

Not going to argue about the costs you have quoted 15K, however I have an issue with the dead money comment of keeping a vehicle on the road.

How is it dead money ??

15k a year WOW what i would like to see were you take your MH

£15k???!!! How is this calculated?

I would hazard a guess, using very approximate figures during a typical year, of

Tax £220
Insurance £300
MOT, servicing & maintenance £500
Depreciation £1k (book transaction only - and will depend on the van)

- ie approx £1k per year outlay to keep a van on the road plus the cost of fuel for travelling (in my case just under £1k last year) and any site fees unless wilding - which, I think, was the original question posed?
