Morning folks,
Has anyone fitted an android radiohead unit to a 2017 Ducato that is a double din.
Where the replacement unit has four plastic legs that clip into the existing metal mounting.
I have not fully pushed home the new unit just incase it's a one way fit only, it would be an odd way of fitting a radio but looking at the clip design it would suggest that once clipped in it would be next to impossible to pull the radiohead back out and so was interested to know if anyone else had come across this. Phil.

P.s. I think I'll remove the metal cage from the dash and fit the radiohead into it while it's off the dash and see how easily it can be removed, atleast if it is a one way fit I'll be able to get at the clips to push them out of their mounting holes and so remove the mounting plate.

I have just fitted one to my movano and sorting out the wiring was more trouble than physically fitting it. It came bonded to a replacement dash section, so it was just a case of swapping vents and heater controls.
Very pleased with it now(y)

Yes they are good, it's not the fitting though that is concerning me it's after I've pushed it home and the mounting legs have clipped into place, how the heck do you remove it if I wanted to, as there are no holes or slots through the new radio facia to put removal tools through to hold back the clips and allow the head unit removal? Phil

In the days when swapping radios was common, I often didn't bother with the metal cage if the unit was snug enough, would that work for you Phil?

on my 2025 Ducato you pull out the two big air vents each side of the DIN opening to get at all the fixing, same for 2017 i think
Hi Yeoblade thanks for the suggestion but I've already taken those out to have a deco but the bottom blades are hidden even with the vents removed. Phil

Evening Pudsey,
In a way that's exactly what I did in the end, I ground all four leg clips down till it was just a push fit, so now I can remove it with a hard tug if I need to work on it at a later date. It is absolutely crazy the way they have designed it because if you don't modify the leg clips the radio will fairly easily slot into the dashboard but there is no way you remove it again because the clips sit into the metal cage for a one way fit, others who might not have prethought
Out the scenario would tear their hair out or destroy the radio trying to remove it, so others be warned.😝.Phil

I did a thread about mine a couple of years ago. This damned radio was scary, single din, aftermarket, but you could turn it off, and randomly, even in the middle of the night, you would hear what sounded like something on the roof, like a bird or whatever, scratching noises, and sometimes during the day we'd be driving along and it'd kick off again, anyway put up with it for ages, I even recorded it, I had even put the face in the back of the van, it made no difference https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/neui...oise.wav?rlkey=t6h9woj8162o04qcptxpbeodg&dl=0

In the end I pulled all the speaker wires out, which shut it up.
