When using the app and looking at some detail or other, I often use the browser back button (force of habit) to get back to the map - but that just closes the app and I have to start all over again.

I know there are ways to get back to the map, but would it be possible to have a "Do you really want to quit?" button to avoid being dumped out of the app?

Not sure what system or browser you are using (I assume a computer so this wouldn’t help) But I noticed on iPhone (iOS) if I open the web app from a Browser or Saved URL Bookmark I get the browser back arrows etc

Where as if I open it from Saved To Home Screen icon they aren’t there so I cannot hit the back arrow

Red X top right closes down the detail if you click on one of the balloons

I'm using android chrome.

As I said, I KNOW there are various ways to get back to the map, but my point is that app convention is that the browser back button takes you back to the previous page, NOT out of the app!

My back button always takes me out of any app to the desktop? On my phone or tablet, i thought that's its purpose.

If you're reading a particular email and then hit the back button, surely that takes you back to your inbox - not out of the mail app?

Well no, but Gmail, is part of Google/Android so maybe different rules apply there.

I'll try all my apps and see what happens

I thought I'd look at the original question & I think you answered your own question, change the habit.

I just tried 22 apps and they all closed on pressing the back button
For example on SearchForSites, if I'm looking at the detail of a site and press the back button it takes me back to the previous page. Always - no matter what how far in I am. That's why it's called a back button - otherwise it would be called a home button. It's the same with all mail clients and banking apps.
