Hi
Does anyone know of a book or a good website to find info on Alpine passes that are a good drive in a 4wd motorhome 6metre long. Also same for Spain & Norway
thanks in advance Neil

Just go where you fancy, we never found anything in the Alps as bad as Porlock Hill in Somerset.

Murky Alpine adventure, we even found Polar Bears ;)

Hi, the Splugen pass was an entertaining drive in our Murvi motorhome.
Dezi

Almost went up Sutton Bank, but 5 minutes before we reached the bottom we got a travel bulletin on the radio saying that an HGV haad broken down and traffic was at a stand still. Took the sign posted alternate route.

Sutton Bank is not far from me and it was notorious once upon a time. Probably because old cars really struggled and they really did get stuck, overheat etc. these days blink and you'll miss it.

For a proper long pass try the Col de la Bonette (roof of Europe). Goes on forever. 😁

Biggest thrill I had was the Tichi N’Tichka pass over the High Atlas south of Marrakesh. I was absolutely terrified, loads of seemingly out of control HGVs made it worse. It didn't help that it came as a surprise. Teach me to plan a bit better.

I like the look of Col de la Bonette. Thanks for info

Norway has 18 National Tourist Routes most of which involve mountains

Gross glockner is one of my favs, even happy to pay the toll.
Remember when vans were in first gear going up these passes and then nursing the brakes on the way down.
Modern vans hardly notice them and you’d have to be a complete numpty to fry the brakes.
