We land Rosslare and the current outline plan is to make our way fairly quickly to Galway and then trickle round the NW and N coast to the Giant's Causeway, thereafter south through the middle (so to speak). We'll use the WAW as a guide only and stopovers will be a mixture of wilding, pubs and sites for servicing.

So, as per the title, must see places please. (Trev?)

I know the recent history of the place is tainted but we spent a cracking day in Derry Some say London Derry. we went to the museums then walked along the city walls where they have actors dressed in costumes acting out scenes from the city’s bloody past telling the story from both sides a very educational day and all Free.

Years ago, during the troubles, my brother was the cathedral organist in (London)Derry. I remember going to stay with him and was so shocked to see soldiers with guns checking us out when we went shopping in Woolworths! It was a real experience. However my brother loved the place and despite subsequently living and working all over the world in some great places, before he died last year he asked that his ashes be taken to (London) Derry.

You may wish to look at motorhomeparkinglocarions which has replaced the mhparkingireland app. It is an improved version which is now capable of having photos uploaded to the reviews. The app works for me (I live in Co. Down), not sure if there is a small payment to access it for a month, or a year.
Motorhomecraic continues to offer loads of searchable info on locations to visit and stay. It is free and friendly and provided you focus your questions a bit then you should get helpful replies.
I would suggest that if you plan to travel down through the middle of Ireland that you hit Lough Erne and follow the Shannon river as there are many marina based, free overnight stops with toilet blocks. You can access the showers, laundry and Black disposal with a waterways ireland swipe card which can be bought in local outlets near the rivers. The route will take you gradually south and west to Limerick, but obviously you don’t need to follow the river the whole way.
Be aware that bin collections are paid for by people in the Republic of Ireland and consequently litter and rubbish bins are difficult to come by. Never miss an opportunity to dispose of rubbish as it presents itself. I carry a large 50 litre roll top ‘dry bag’ into which I put prebagged rubbish until I can dispose of it. I sort card and paper and drinks cans and bottles for recycling points and any fat and food waste is put into a sealed plastic tub (think M&S mini chocolate rolls tubs). Similarly empty your cassette as opportunity presents.
Camp sites are a good option every few days to empty, fill, shower and dispose of rubbish.

All depends on how long you are staying and what attractions you like, is it history, nice landscapes, clean beaches, walks, parks or just sitting in pubs getting shitfaced.
If only here for a few weeks id go up to Donegal via Galway Enniskillen, but you could be missing out places like Newgrange and the boyne vally.
Me im thinking you may be taking on way to much in one go if only here a week or two, I have been trying to see 10% of it in almost 50 years and aint.
If its Galway then do it but parking for vans is almost impossible, nice we shopping town by the sea, then head up around Salthill to the ten pins mountains & Conamara, keep going north up the west coast, lots more free spots to spend the night.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Current plan is to focus on the coasts of Mayo, Sligo & Donegal; our dog is very excited by all the beaches!
We have been using PfN, SfS, Total Motorhome Ireland and Motorhomecraic for research. Didn't know about motorhomeparkinglocations, TeamRienza, so we'll take a look at that. Also, thanks for the reminder about rubbish disposal.

Trev, yes, had read that Galway town is not moho friendly and thanks for the suggested route. BTW, did you mean the Twelve Pins mountains?

Yes 12 pins, but you will find better up around Donegal and on up, do go to the nat park and also see errigal mtn, have fun.

All of the above. Trev's suggestions from other posts are good. We used them.
The famine village in Donegal is a must. There's nowhere quite like it!
As said do NOT put household rubbish in litter bins, there's a big fine.
We often just saved it up and paid about 3 euro to put it in a local recycling facility.
Free Derry museum also a must if in the city.
There's a very nice, reasonably priced campsite right on the Donegal/Co. Derry border. Can't remember the name but close enough to Derry city to get a taxi.
The beach at the end of Achill island is spectacular. The Museum of Country Life (I think it's called that) in Mayo also very good.
Oh lots and lots, you don't need advice, you'll discover your own adventures!
But the Donegal beaches in the sunshine are beyond fab! Enjoy

A defo is the nat park just up north of Letterkenny, thats on the road to errigal, Kenego beach and a few other up that way, have a look at Doe castle outside letterkenny at the roundabout with the crossed sticks turn right on the town direction.
