Airtronic D2 fuel line

Hi everyone.

I have just purchased a Eberspacher airtronic D2 heater.
Does anyone have any advise on how to get fuel to it via the vans fuel tank?
I don't want to put hole in tank. could I put a tee piece in the van fuel pipe?
thanks.

You will need to check whether that particular vehicle has a fuel pump mounted inside the fuel tank - some do and depending on the type of pump this would likely cause problems in getting a constant fuel flow. Also some (most???) diesel engines have a fuel return line and this may not extend to the bottom of the tank so you need to make sure you don't tap into that line.

Another consideration - unlikely given the low fuel consumption of the heaters - is that you could run yourself out of fuel. Normal practice is to have a separate tube that stops well short of the bottom.

Hi,

Hi, When I ran the heater in my old van, I used an alloy fuel tank picked up from e-bay and this allowed me to carry diesel just for the heater. used a inline fuel pump and copper pipe. worked find. was able to fit the tank filler near the van filler so easy to fill main and heater tank.

fuel to eberspacher heater.

thanks everyone. went for the hole in tank option. working fine. left pipe well short of bottom of tank. thanks.

A tee piece is the usual way:)
Alternatively, fit a separate fuel tank and use RED diesel:cool:

Think the law may be changing on the use of red diesel used to use is at work until the begining of this year for our mobile cranes.Apparently users have to use white diesel then claim back the duty from our friends customs and excise, may apply to farmers as well:confused:If this is the case then will red diesel be available at all?

you can buy it as heating oil to what i know of, there used to be a fuel station in penistone near us that sold it and you had to give them your name and address although its probably cheaper on the black market ;)

thanks to everyone who responded to my problem with deisel heater.
have a merry christmas.

I fitted an eberspacher to my old vito self build camper.

In the merc instructions that i down loaded, it said to use a Tee piece and splice this into the fuel return line.

Was nervous, but i did it and it worked a treat.

pennies garage is the one he used to have a pump on the forecourt but there used to be a cheeky old farmer seen him fill an old escort van up once or twice :D:D from the pump i used to live on sheffield road a few years ago

Heating oil or paraffin works fine in Eberspacher heaters. There is no need to pay extra for diesel. We used to have ours plumbed up to a jerry can bolted behind our cabs and used paraffin to run them.No probs at all.
