Aires on a shoestring 5
Below are some of the FREE aires,& picnic sites we used on the latest trip. Others we used have already been shown in Aires on a shoestring 4 3 2 & 1.

They are great places, what a shame that the UK cannot understand the benefits to the local community from little spots like that. Tell me, do they have trouble in France with people abusing them overstaying or leaving litter?

I did ask Phil some time ago to collate them all into one thread that I could add to them after our twice yearly trips, but it aint happened yet.

Hi, There is always the individual who abuse any system, but its no worse, or bettter than in the UK.

What I did notice however, due to government cutbacks that have filtered down to local authorities, is that several free Aires that we have used in the past, now have a charge to stay overnight.

Rochfort port is typical, free last year, 6 euros a night now & the local police were checking vans for the paperwork to prove payment had been made

C'est la vie as they say in Botswana.
