hi all,
ive got 205 x 16c tyres on my van has anyone any idea what pressure they should run on bearing in mind the van is only carrying a small payload ie quater of a ton, at the moment there running on 55lb sq inch.

any help wellcome.

Sounds about right to me - as long as the tyre does not show adverse wear in the centre of the tread then you have probably got it right.
Is your Pride and Joy front wheel drive? If it is, then it will pay you swap front tyres to back every 5000 miles. This should help quite a bit with tyre wear.

The only way to find out what tyre pressures you should have is to ask the tyre manufacturer. You'll need to use a weighbridge to find out your axle weights, then give those figures to the tyre manufacturer, they will be able to tell you the correct pressures. Some tyre companies have this information on their website, but it can take a bit of finding...

But then, when it comes to replacing them, you will probably need to fork out for four new tyres at once...

There is usually a sticker with tyre pressures located somewhere in the cab - door pillar, step well, inside glove box, bottom of door. Thats if the tyres are a standard fitment from the manufacturer - otherwise its as the others suggested.
