AIB’s pleased to say we insure the Youtube family, the Roaming Radfords, on their journeys through Europe. Not only do they have specialist cover on their motorhome but also breakdown covering them for Europe and the UK so they can roam happy. To find out more on their story go to: https://www.aib-insurance.co.uk/blog/roamingradfords

AIB are still offering discount to forum members, so for your specialist cover quote go to: https://www.aib-insurance.co.uk/products/car-insurance/motorhome-insurance

Don't think that they will be sitting logged into our site they pop in and out often but why not use the landline for a repky or go onto their web page?
I cant answer that the op's first post this is what I don't like about AIB
Upto 15% discount for Wildcamping.co.uk members. Make sure you tell us you are a member when you ring:

Hello Do you only insure uk registered vehicals?
Yes, they have been insuring both my Motorhome and my car for three years now. They are brokers who sometimes use various companies for insurance cover. I have found them very competitive, and helpful. When phoning I have never waited any longer than a minute to talk to someone, and my queries have been dealt with efficiently. The only thing I cannot verify is how they treat claims, as fortunately I have never had to make one. But I do get the impression that claims would be dealt with with the same efficiency. I hope this is helpful to you.

They give the 15% to anyone/everyone. That's what the manager Darren told me when I insured with them the other year. I asked for it after they had given me my price not before and they refused to give the 15% saying it was already built in as they assume everyone will be a member of some forum/club or whatever.

To my mind if you tell them before you get the price it is easy to say that it includes the 15% mind you if they aren't competitive even with the fabled 15% its its irrelevant really I 'spose.

They use a outside co which i found crap after a coal lorry took one of my windows out and dented the van, I did the work and sent an invoice, they would not honor the labour but paid up for the window, excuse was the invoice was not signed, I offered the do so but was turned down.

I agree with others about the 15%thing. Don’t tell them your a member, get your quote and then ask for your discount. Yes the quote is already discounted but how do they know your a member?
We cancelled our policy after selling our van and we’re offered under half of what they were due us as a refund. My misses had a bit of a time on the phone but after speaking to a manager we got what we were due minus the admin fee but why should you need to fight for it and not offered the correct refund in the first place.
As for claims we waited two weeks to have our windscreen replaced on our Crafter (standard screen) which Premier windscreens (local to me) could have done the next day. We had to cancel a week away with friends and when called Aib (who I understand don’t fit the screen) to complain once the screen had been fitted I was told I could have had it done independently, paid for it myself and claimed back the price.
If only they had thought to tell me this at the start of the claim I wouldn’t have missed Harris with friends.
Only my experience but wouldn’t recommend them and if we buy another camper we will go back to Safeguard.

I had the same experience. I'd rather they just didn't mention it, instead be listed here/MH as a motorhome friendly insurer.

Just don't use any insurance company or broker that uses "Das Law" for their legal cover. I'll talk to anyone personally who has also suffered at their service.

not a believer in the 15% myself until i heard phil crumbling about the amount of time he looses confirming that a b or c is a member!

I remember years ago when my mother was buying her first automatic washing machine, replacing her old twin tub. Well I took her to curry’s and the washing machine she wanted was priced at £350, with £50 off if you gave them your old washing machine. But the council had already disposed of her old machine. So I said to the salesman, “how about my mum not giving you an old washing machine for you to dispose off, and give her the £50 off” deal done and she got the washing machine for £300.
The 15% is a myth, but bottom line they are competitive.
Its the bottom line that matters, not all of the posturing about discounts.
I was under £700 for my Moho and my car combined.
I take on board what others have said about the problems they had claiming.
I can only hope if I claim, I don’t have the same problems.

Surely they could check that them selves in the sites search facilty

So before giving you a quote they would have to ask if you are a member of any clubs and if so which club or forum so they can confirm membership? But they don’t. So when you get your quote and then tell them your a full member of the Wilcamping gang they should then deduct 15% for your discount? But they don’t.
Maybe I’m missing something here and Darren from Aib will reply and explain why I’m wrong? But they don’t.

I am just going to end this here as I am fed up with the experts with their incorrect information.

I have to provide evidence of membership in the form of a letter for our members that take out insurance with them. This is because the policies that they offer require that you must be a motorhome club member. If I do not provide the evidence then the policy is cancelled as the policyholder lied.

IF IT IS A FAKE 15% DISCOUNT WHY AM I REQUIRED TO WRITE THE LETTERS FOR THE INSURERS?

They assume that everyone ringing is a member of a club as they only deal with clubs.

If you don't want to be insured with AIB then don't ring them, but STOP posting the same crap every time they post sometime.
