I had cruise control / speed limiter fitted to our Renault Trafic by a guy over at at Market Deeping, Peterborough

Alex ( east european ) with excellent english is mobile and works from home as well. He was coming over to Liverpool in a couple of months to do 3 motorhomes that were coming over from Ireland and said he could come to Blackpool as well but we wanted it done asap so we went over to him and turned it into a day out 😎

He fitted it using genuine Renault used " like new " parts i.e. dashboard switch and a choice of steering wheels with the buttons already on them because this Trafic was already pre-wired including the lights on the dashboard.

All in it took him an a couple of hours which included the re-programming as well, £250 cash all in and looks just like the factory fit, works great.

He messaged me twice on the way back home so see how it was going.

Very handy feature.

I will make a general comment about adding Cruise Control ..... before buying a system and fitting it, check to see what is involved in adding the Factory OEM Cruise system - on some vehicles it can be remarkably simple.

As an example, on my 2005 RAV4, I bought a "Gold Cruise" CC system and fitted it - cost I think around £500 and it was very nice to use. We (RAV4 enthusiasts) found out some time later that all you need to do is buy an Toyota CC stalk and plug it in! So when around 10 years ago I bought another 2005 RAV4, I bought a complete RAV4 Steering Wheel with all the stalks (inc CC one) on eBay for around £50 and just swapped that over with the original wheel and Bob's your uncle! Sold my original wheel on eBay for around £25 and so adding CC on the RAV cost £25 - or a 20th of the cost of my first one. Not actually as nice as my aftermarket Gold Cruise, but what a price difference!
Did something similar with my VW T5 - bought a replacement stalk set (the stalks tend to come as a single fitting rather than individual ones), took the steering wheel off, swapped the stalk sets and put the wheel back. There was in honesty a bit of wiring and extra work needed - had to run one wire from the dash to the fusebox in the engine bay which was a nightmare, and replace the clutch switch as it was faulty (common fault), and finally use the VW S/W to enable the CC system, but again, compared to an aftermarket kit, a good saving (think the stalk set was £100?)

So do check if things like the above are possible before going aftermarket, but if not, still worth adding on for a lot of driving.

He is a top guy Aleksandr I helped him find the bits so he could make me up a kit for my van. And talked me through how to fit it and program it.
