Hi all,i'm looking for a little advice on solar panels.I am thinking about an 80w panel to fit on the top of my Citroen relay van and as it will only be used for lighting and accasional ham radio use at 10w i would have thought an 80w panel will be ample.
The advice i'm looking for is more so what Make of panel or kit would you fokes advise me to look into with a mixture of price, quality and reliability in mind,i have looked on ebay and around £200 seems to be the figure i would have to spend to get up and running.
P.S i am actualy being seriuose for a change, cheers Shawbags.

Hi, It depends on what size leisure batt / s you have. I have an 85 watt solar panel that keeps 2 x 130 amp leisure batts going for up to 12 days with no engine running. I suggest that you ring a small converter of motorhomes to see which ones they use. hopefully this info will help.

Dezi.

p.s. Before anybody jumps in with "Are you talking talented dwarfs on the small converter front", the answer is no I am talking volume of sales.

Hi there ,probably a single 110 amp,Shawbags.

Was in Maplins the other day. They had a panel which I think was 60 watts with all the fittings for £199. Probably be cheaper after Xmas, or if you sign up for newsletter you may get voucher which will make it cheaper.

cheers for that,shawbags.

Solar Panel

Ebay is the best place for solar panels, prices are really low and not all come from China!
Maplins are well overpriced, you will get twice the size for the same money and specs from Ebay, even the controllers are cheap!

maplins are over priced , and there stuf comes from china ,so cut out the middle man and save a bob or two .only thing with ordering of ebay is the waiting for the item to be shipped from china ,but then again its worth the wait considering the cash you will save

Thanks all,i also thought Ebay would be my best bet but thought i would ask just in case, cheers again,Shawbags.
