Because I am having a hard time here in Spain Trying to get a Scooter rack put on my Motor home, Spanish Reg. what with all the papers they want and the cost as anyone towed a bike trailer before. and the good and bad points, please

Personally I dont mind towing trailers - short or long ones.

Pros - a box trailer will secure a host of things along with the bike.
If you keep things light - under 500kgs - you wont know its behind you.
You can secure the trailer with chains and padlocks.

Cons - rent a trailer and find a spot to learn how to reverse one - the shorter the trailer the harder it is!!
Some really good parking spots will not take a trailer as well - unhitch and wheel it in.
Some countries may have speed limits based on weights and braking system (if any).

Remember that you must have the entitlement on your license to tow any trailer.:cool:

I carried a scooter on the back of our Winnebago, and now tow our BMW on a trailer. The scooter rack is brill' - fit and forget, but it does increase your rear axle weight considerably, especially if it has a large rear over hang.

The trailer being narrow is almost impossible to reverse, so the first mod' was to fit a jockey wheel to make moving it easier when un-hitched. You also have two extra tyres and wheel bearings to check plus extra lights. You will also be longer than a rack and will pay for a trailer on ferries, tolls etc.

I also carry a jack, wheel brace and spare tyre for the trailer - all extra weight and space used!!!
