After the multiple numbers floating around for renewal I thought I'd ask what number people have for breakdown both in the UK and abroad?

Abroad +49 89 222222

UK 0800 028 9018

Mr B.

I've got the first one but not the UK one. I've also got one for France and one for Madrid which I'm sure someone on the forum suggested. Have you used the uk breakdown? Think I must have phoned Germany!

I've only used the German one from Spain.

I believe the UK one is the for the AA who deal with ADAC breakdowns over here.

Yes, I've used them but as I said, I must have phoned through to Germany. The AA guy was a bit confused by me - think he was expecting a driver from overseas and mentioned something about International ... I had to explain about ADAC membership. Not as a condition of him assisting, just to,alleviate his confusion!

The AA in my experience will not take calls for ADAC assistance.

The following screenshot is useful:

ADAC Assistance Abroad.jpg

The first column gives local phone numbers by country and is the first number you should try. Note there is no number for the UK.

In addition I have a number to call in France:

+33 472 17 12 22

If these numbers don't work, call Germany.

If in the UK this call is relatively expensive. If in the EU the call is included in your mobile call allowance.

I use 18185 to reduce call costs to foreign numbers.

I thought it was assumed that if one uses ADAC in the UK they use AA? They did when I called them but I wouldn't ring AA directly because I'm an ADAC member, obviously. Is that what you meant, Chris?

Yes.

The AA have the ADAC callout placed with them. They won't take the call directly. I know because I have tried ...
