Best to avoid due to remedial works following a landslide. There is a four way traffic control which is NOT functioning correctly, it took 50 minutes to travel 600 yds due to the lights changing every 3 seconds.
It took us 6 hrs 15 mins to travel from Stone, Staffs to York, a distance of approximately 90 miles. Except we had to go the long way round as the M62 was closed between junctions 20 and 24, plus delays from junction 18 to 20. This was due to a HGV loaded with sawdust spontaneously combusting.

Now I need a very very stiff drink!

The only way to get from Stone (Staffs) to York in 90 miles is by helicopter.
Using roads it is more like 130 miles, and if you use the A59 it is almost 150.

Even so, taking over 6 hours justifies a very very stiff drink.

It was pitch black when we drove it Graham, add to the fact that our mh headlights are like two birthday candles, I really couldn't tell you.😐
