A WILD IDEA

We are always looking for a free wild camp. My idea is any farmer to allow us to park in a corner of their field or entrance . Because farmers are having livestock and equipment stolen . If we have the farmers phone number we could be acting like a nightwatch man ,most of us have dogs who would alerts us through the night. Maybe someone out there could improve on this idea What does anyone think. I did think about putting the idea to the NFU. ??

Often vehicular access is required by the criminals especially when nicking machinery is involved. Also recently in our village private properties have been burgled, the thieves break down farmers gates and drive across their land to access the rear gardens of private houses often without setting off things like doorbell cameras etc.

As for approaching the NFU - you have nothing to lose by doing so.

When I was engaging with the Lake District NP and Cumbria about more places for motorhomes to stay I discussed this. The Farmers liaison person told me that they had discussed this, but the farmers were generally not interested. They could earn a small fortune on pop up sites for tents. And that they had their subsidies deducted for any area frequently used for motorhomes or caravans. For tents there’s no deduction.
