If like me, you use Google Maps to do your route planning then transfer all the information by hand to your GPS device then this may help you!
By chance I discovered some free software called 'Tyre' from a dutch website. It enables you to make all your route itinerary details with Google Maps, connect your TT or Garmin (not other makes though) to your PC/laptop and transfer the whole lot in one click. BRILLIANT in my humble opinion.

Of course some of you wouldn't dream of using GPS but for me this has made trip planning and adding all those lovely locations soooooo easy, and it's FREE too!
