hi, i know theres a few lorry drivers on this forum and i've been following the thread bout not parkin' on services but to find a supermarket or such, i picked a paper up called'truckstop' and in there was cheap enough truckstops, question is would motorhomes/campers be allowed to stop would you know? they have showers/cafes etc .

ps. do you like truckers/lorry drivers /kings of the road or owt else to be called?;)

Not the easiest site to use but there's quite a few listed here: TRUCK STOPS LORRY PARKS TRANSPORT CAFES

Whether motorhomes would be allowed to stay overnight is down to the discretion of the individual site.

Staying overnight in a motorhome or caravan is covered by the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act whereas staying overnight in a lorry's sleeper cab isn't. So in theory, subject to limited exemptions, truck stops should have local authority permission to allow them to stay. In practice most, if not all, local authorities wouldn't be at all concerned I suspect.

Hi I would not recommend stopping at any of the 'So called TruckStops' apart from Orwell Truckstop near Ipswich this is based on the European Truckstops these are a million miles away from from the ones in uk!!!

If you need a shower most MSA,s have showers but once again most of them I wouldn't wash my dog in!
You can call me anything apart from 'Drive'!!!! But I am a truck driver, best job i've ever had, and i've had a few!!!

Hi
I agree with all the comments about truck stops and service stations.
Have been trucking for many years and have never used any of the above for nightstops. The best places are just off the main drags just use the force of
common sense and you can't go far wrong.:):D:cool:

All truck stops seem to have bottles of pop thrown everywhere, all seem to be of a similar colour.

lol bedford!!!!:D

the reason i asked was for use of the showers etc , so heres my next question, if i stopped off for a brekkie would they let me and missus use showers do you think?

guess i could always ring em :)
