A plea to all wild campers....

I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted posting this here, but just a reminder to make sure that when you leave a spot, please take a couple of minutes to walk round your van and pick up any rubbish whether or not it's yours! Been out for six weeks now, just got home and was surprised how many people were anti us wild campers due to us being litter louts. I know it's the minority giving the majority a bad name, but PLEASE TIDY UP every time you leave a spot, whatever the weather!

Thanks!:)

Clean up!!

Well put,Caspar. It only takes one or two to have us All classed as litter louts.
Keep it tidy!!!! Hobbit:D:D

When we arrived at Keepers pond in the Brecons the first thing we did was to clear the area of rubbish. Beats me how people can mistreat a beauty spot like this. Had we have left it as we found it, (being a motorhome) then we would have become an easy target for complaint.:(

Regards Nolly.

In our many years of motorhoming (mostly wildcamping) we have very rarely seen any motorhome owners leaving any mess, the main culprits are cars who just chuck the rubbish out before driving off.

well said Kontiki
in 41 years with motorhome we could count on one hand the motor caravans we have seen leaving rubbish mostly car or van drivers -- eat it throw it away.
we mainly wild camp the only problem we have seen is in the Scotish Highlands and people leaving stuff in the wheelie bins they see at the roadside they are not public bins you just cant see the house

I don't disagree with you at all, BUT people often wrongly assume that the rubbish is left by the people staying there, not the cars. I last week picked up air filter, fuel filter and oil filter from a beautiful beach car park and binned them. A lot of people would have assumed I'd serviced the motorhome there, even though they were nothing to do with me. As I said a MINORITY give us as a group a bad name with some people which does not help our cause!

We also always pick up any rubbish we find wherever we wild camp and take it home.

It only takes one....

I live in an area where it is very quiet with little traffic Mon-Fri.
At week-ends however, it usually is very busy and the amount of litter that the parked cars leave behind has to be seen to be believed.
Used takeaway coffee cups, polystyrene boxes with remains of chips and curry sauce, ashtray contents emptied out, even full babies' nappies have been left behind. Neighbours have tried to remonstrate with the offenders but are met with abuse and even violence has been threatened towards them.
Compare this to the annual World Pipeband Championships held in the area every August.
You will see about 30 or so Motorhomes and campers of various sorts parked therer for a few days and when they leave all that is left behind them is maybe some marks on the grass, so I agree with the sentiment that the worst offenders are car owner/drivers.
BUT I have witnessed the occasional Motorhome owner leaving litter behind. It only takes one to be seen doing this unfortunately for us to be tarred by the same brush.

Your right about that, we always see cars just putting there rubbish just outside
their car door, give everyone else a bad name.
