A white van driver turned left across the front of me today. I was travelling at 52mph at the time.

It was a frighteningly near miss. Thankfully ABS, excellent tyres and a dry road today, unlike yesterday, saved me.

It was a full on emergency stop. The brakes proved excellent with just a slight step out of line at the rear.

I had to pull over for a few minutes to calm down.

In 15 years of motorhome driving this is the first time I've had a near miss on the road.

Better a near miss than an HGV driving into you!
Glad that you, Jones and the motorhome are OK. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Probably a bit different in real life and travelling at speed Trev rather than seeing it on a Youtube video sitting at your desk?
Very much so I think, very different in reality to sitting stationary at home.

Although, as it worked out, the two vehicles weren't going to occupy the same road space at the same time, but still too close for comfort.

Add a bicycle on the wrong side of the road (which happens far too often) exiting the side road, and the whole scenario could be very different.

A perfect example of where braking has a better outcome than accelerating, whoever it was that you quoted a few weeks ago Trev 😝 :p (y)
