Hello,
Not that good at intro’s ……..but once met never forgotten (apparently ;) )
Well I’ve done a self- build camper based on Jumbo Transit van , which does make for interesting parking. The wife got a bit of shock on how big the thing was when I first got it home ! but she said get a van to turn into a camper and one you can fit your bike into. (and provision for Telescope ? she says )
It’s taken a while to complete the van and now we're ready to take advantage of it. Having done the camping in tents,on motorbikes in our youth in all weathers (even in snow - Mad !, total bonkers! must have been the alcohol ) so we’re looking forward to a bit of luxury but not too much of the hassle .
We’re looking to get away for few nights this month …..without the dog (mad lab :p) as for the Kids they're a little too grown up to take….we hope (we need the peace and quiet )
So look out for large burgundy Tranny on your travels ….

Steve & Ellie

PS if Steve is typing this, as now, it will have poor grammar etc ….. Ellie’s is perfect

Welcome Steve & Ellie :)

I guess you'll be doing a bit of wild camping on your travels.

There's a wild camping map & satnav POI download on this site, covering England, Wales & Scotland. Just under 2,500 places all told.

If that's of interest, you'll need to sign up as full members - I hope you'll think it worthwhile.

In the meantime, fire away with any questions - and we'll all do our best to help!

Regards

Chris

hello, and welcome from a Southerner (Sittingbourne) living in Yorkshire, and a biker too.
We are still considering how we can take the motorbikes (we both ride) with us on our journeys.

I designed my van so a bike can go between the two rear bench seats on special rig and welding in extra securing points before fitting the camper out.

ie the cushions are removed, ply running board goes on the floor and there is enough room for my dirtbike to fit. It could work while camping ie leaving the bike outside but not got that far yet.
(the man in white coat is me .....wish they wouldn't give me ones wth those long sleeves

I was going to get small bike (125) but just couldn't justify the expense.(5 already in garage)
There are those Dave Cooper bike racks which fit on the towbar mounts but they're only for very light bike(trails) and it does depend on your nose weight and over hang.

Thanks for the welcome , may well join as full member ...but as I'm Mr Tightwad it may take a while before I prise open the wallet , does depend on how much free time I get this year and job siutation.

PS I'm near Dover ......the backside of england (Well everyone just passes through) ;);)

Welcome Steve & Ellie to the wild side - if you do a lot of wild camping then you should download the new POI onto your satnav but you will need to become a full member to do so bit worth every penny.
