Mr Drippin has fractured his spine in a freak accident 3 weeks ago.5 days in hospital and now up to 6 months before he can work again.
The upshot is we are self employed and can't live on £100 a week from the state so will have to sell our motorhome.
So its back to camping I guess, still hoping to make silverstone for the British Grand Prix.

So sorry to hear that Lizzy, $hit seems to happen too often nowadays.

Sorry to hear about Mr Dripping.
Best Wishes for a speedy recovery.

sorry to hear your news lizzie and wish your hub a speedy recovery. have you been to c.a.b. etc and pursued every aisle to benefits? shame you penalised for your misfortune:mad: but then what can you expect from a state that rewards that rewards them that DON'T and penalise those that DO!!:

:( don't want to be poking in and I'm sure you have done some checking but self-employed doesn't matter a damn ....There entitlements and they are more than £100 pw fo 2 people!
You should -for starter-be entitled to tax refunds more likely and since your husband is unable to work. (I assume you do not or perhaps just a part time bit? or cannot continue his business alone: then both of ye must be elegible for something more than £100 a week.....
Don t sell your MH ihere is an y possible way to keepit -SORN it or whatever but if and when you come to replace it:it is almost certain to be much more costly....
I went through a similar experience some time back but I was well advised, and a good charity steered me through to getting every penny I was entitled and every possible benefit.Best and all :)

Sorry to read this news.

Just another thought.... if you do sell your pride and joy this might increase your savings to the level beyond which you're eligible for means-tested benefits.

Are there any other options you could explore - eg letting a spare bedroom to a lodger for about £4250 tax-free....

Good luck - I hope Mr Dripping will heal quickly and that the short-term outlook isn't as bleak as feared.

Sorry to hear about the bosses accident. Was it his fault? remember 'where there is blame there's a claim'. I do hope matters sort themselves out for you. I always had an incapacity insurance which fortunately I never had to claim on but it was reassuring to know it was there.

Hi Lizzy,
So sorry to hear your news, I know how much your van means to you. Please think long and hard before you make a final decision there are often other ways of skinning a cat. I hope HWMBO recovers quickly. SueJ sends her best wishes too.

Hi Lizzy - so sorry about hubby - As he was self employed did he have a personal accident insurance, or any other - look at all possibilities b4 you sell your M/H I was self employed and I could claim of my own public liability if an accident occurred at work or against our house mortgage if insured for accidents. If van is HP try to get the payments deferred or at least reduced. please again explore all possibilities b4 you sell your M/H.

Good luck and I hope hubby mends real soon.

Think hard!!!!

Make sure you look at all possibilities before you sell, so many others get it all on a plate as everyone else has said check out all possibilities. Maybe family and friends who you trust may like to pay to borrow your motor home this year or if you put it somewhere and let friends stay in it for a small fee. There are also loads of ways to make a bit of spare cash go mad clear out do car boots deliver telephone directories ( good bit of exercise) even just for you.Or maybe if worse comes to worse downsize and age of your motor home at least you may pick up a little bargain for when you back on road and make alittle bit of cash too. Good luck!!!!!
