5.0 tonne Transit....

" Buyers should also bear in mind that, due to the size and weight of the Transit 5.0-tonne, they’ll have to sit an additional driving test before they can legally drive the van on UK roads"

I think they forget the word "may"....

Not convinced motorhome coach builders would be interested as the chassis wheelbase is not long enough and chassis on the high side. Alko chassis would still be required for longer bodied motorhomes in the 4.25T to 5T range.

I know Chausson and one or two others use the transit cab but it always struck me when looking at transit based motorhomes that the extended cab length reduced some of the usable space within the motorhome for a given length, when compared to Fiat/Peugeot conversions. To compensate for the cab length transit conversions can be slightly longer but I would have to say the transit van is a nice more car like drive when compared to a Ducatto.

But the new 9 speed fully automatic Fiat gearbox puts the Ducatto in a different place altogether!

No doubt the new 10 speed auto from Ford will do the same for the Transit.

is there a market for panel van conversions over 3.5T?
