Hi all, really wanting to wild swim at this location , has anybody been before and is there a place i can park my campervan even better wildcamp ?
Thanks ;)

you cant park exactly at 3 shires head. although there is a bridge its more or less a pack horse type bridge and I'm sure there isnt enough water to swim but to paddle or lounge in one of the pools probably

Three Shires Head

Try this 53.21031 -1.97448 room to park there, maybe overnight, it is a narrow road down there but little traffic, some times at the location motorcycle scramble bikes practice mainly weekends, you will have a short walk to Three Shires Head as said before not a lot of water for a swim, but if I recall correctly there is a good pool before you get there, hope this helps.

Is there a word for wild swimming sans cozzie?

Maybe someone can invent one. :D

Me and my misses decided that, as the weather was nice, we would go out for a bit of a reckie on the motorbike.

Tell you what, it's not the easiest of places to find, but fantastic once you get there. Great for taking the kids for the afternoon, but not really large enough area to actually swim. Some areas are deep enough for adults to go waist deep and some areas shallow enough for the toddlers. We will be back again with the family.

As for WildCamping ....... forget it in the immediate area (although there are a few spots in the Buxton / Goyt Valley area).

Google shows the area is on a junction with three roads. These are in fact bridleways. If you've got a Motocross bike then it would be a great ride to it, but I wouldn't even attempt it in a Landrover due to the narrowing of the road / path.

We parked the bike at the top of a very narrow road that I wouldn't attempt to have taken my motorhome down. Possibly some of the smaller 'van conversions' would be okay?
Then turned off on to the start of the Bridleway and walked down this for about ten minutes. You can see from the pictures that there is no-way you will get even a car down the track.
