2nd Leisure Battery?

I am thinking of having a 2nd Leisure battery fitted.

Will this battery be connected to the original in parallel therefore effectively doubling(based on similar AHC) the capacity or is it an independant battery i.e auxiliary battery which is used whilst the other is being recharged via the solar panel or the next engine run?

Are there any other considerations I should think about before venturing into the land of 2 Leisure batteries.

Batteries usually connected in parallel to, as you say, increase capacity.

It is also better to have two (or more if preferred) identical batteries. I.e buy two new batteries instead of adding a new one to your existing set up.

If one battery is older and less efficient the whole set up will only perform as good as this "poorer" battery.

Hope this helps

The original was replaced in March this year. So should have 2 good batteries.
