I have noticed this a few times. When I turn the engine off there is a rapid ticking for a few seconds and I noticed today because I had them folded in the indicator lights on the mirrors were flashing rapidly. Any idea what this is? Van starts fine every time.

Are you accidentally pressing the lock, as rapid indicator flash usually means trying to lock when not possible

No I dont think so but now you mention it I think you sometimes get that beep as well that you get when you do lock or unlock it. All these bells and whistles and beeps and stuff!! GRRR!

Does this only happen on one direction either right or left ?Try indicating until the rapid flash occurs and pop out and see which one is out, it may just be a damp or dirty connection on the bulb to fitment. I have the same problem on my pickup and was due to dampness within the lense.

Now you and I are on a par when it comes to ‘stuff’ but,if you’ve turned off your engine then you’ve also turned off your ignition so indicators won’t work, is there a extra alarm, tracker or something that might be activated when you’ve turned everything off ?

Totally misread your post!😂

There is an expensive tracker on this van but its not activated. I did see a small device with a green flashing LED in the garage though. I thought it was a bomb at first but presumably the tracker. I doubt its that though. Dunno.

Barry I stand by a blown bulb.
It could be faulty light fitting.

Don’t forget your brake lights, and marker lights, and number plate light.

A rapidly flashing indicator light on your dashboard after turning off the engine usually indicates a problem with the car's electrical system, most commonly a failing or burnt-out bulb in the turn signal circuit, causing the flasher relay to rapidly cycle due to the reduced electrical load.

Thanks Bill. Will check it out but I dont remember seeing a flashing indicator light on the dash but I was probably looking at the flashing actual indicator on the mirror. I Remember cars of old if the indicator light flashed quickly when you made a turn it usually meant a bulb out though. Ill get them checked.

Do you have a tow bar ? I've experienced the light socket shorting out due to damp causing problems.

No, it got taken off when the Scooter rack got fitted but there are electrics to the scooter rack.

I recently had a fault with a failing but not failed indicator bulb, going round and checking all the bulbs one of the indicator bulbs was very warm to the touch after I left the hazards was on for a few minutes. this warm bulb, with high resistance was causing the problem though it was still actually flashing and working ok.
