2014 Fiat Ducato Intermittent Horn Problem

F1 Scout

Guest
Pleas excuse me if this has been asked before, however we have an Autotrail Scout on which the horn failed some months ago. I took it to the Fiat dealer and as to be expected, it worked fine for the technician. I took it back a couple of months later when it packed in again, fortunately this time the technician found it inoperative. After a bit of checking he came up with the solution of a fault on the air bag unit as there was a gap in one of the contact electrodes. this was replaced under warranty however went back to its intermittent problem again within a week or two. I will be taking it back to the dealer in the next couple of weeks but thought it would be great to go with a possible solution.

Any experiences of this?

Cheers

Mike

If its not the horn at fault then look for faulty relay or contact switch/points on the horn push stock at steering wheel.
Also look at earth if there is one at the horn.

I had a similar issue on my 2002 ducato other than I tis a non airbag model.

Trev is right it was a contact issue at the steering boss, which was not a cheap repair

What we did, ( help from Old Arthur) is fitted a push button switch on a spare point on the dash ...It looks factory fitted ....from an MOT standpoint the horn needs to work no mention it has to be centre boss or on a stalk etc ....so not a problem.

Far cheaper and reliable solution than messing about with the boss and air bag removal
