It would be nice in 2011 to have a few community meets so members can meet face to face.

Any ideas or suggestion?

Not sure what the parking regs are at present but what about the cliff top road above Hunstanton. Loads of room for bigger vans, close to the town and beaches, Norfolk lavender, Sandringham Estate, Deer Park and so on

Planning another Highland Gathering in June - probably w/e of 5th .......... if that is a weekend:confused:

I'd be happy to approach a local pub in Bollington, Cheshire, to see if they'd be happy to accommodate some 'vans for a weekend.

The one I have in mind brews its own beer, and is adjacent to the local cricket pitch ...

Thanks ***** :)

If I asked the pub here to accommodate a few motorhomes for a weekend, I wouldn't have thought such a certificate would be needed ...

Hi sounds good! we would be on for that. :D

Both big clubs have Temporary Holiday sites around the country. They are basic, with a fresh water supply and waste disposal point. We stayed on a couple last year and liked them. They could be a good base for a meet or two but you would have to be a club member. I am dropping my CC membership but keeping the C&CC one just for these THS's and 5 van sites.

Hi All,

I would like to put forward Aberystwyth as a good place to get people together if you live on the western side of England or indeed in wales itself. The promenade is always a great place to stay at any time of year and you're only a minute walk from the town, which is lovely. Lots of bars and restaurants too !.

Defra

There have been many meets, and they / we have never had one and if everybody books onto a site an an individual it is not required, wilding as an individual,or a few is probably the same.
Only required if organized events. I think,

defra - Google Search

Defra, UK - Rural and Countryside: Access to Countryside - Recreation - Camping certificates

Defra, UK - Wildlife and Countryside: Access to Countryside - Recreation - Caravan site exemptions

Defra, UK - Rural and Countryside: Access to Countryside
It doesn't matter whether 'bookings' are made or whether it's individuals or a group, an exemption certificate held by a club means that the owner of the land on which the 'meet' is held will not be contravening planning regulations and the need for a site licence, if the land is not a licenced site.

I expect that 99% of the time there would be no problem, and even if a complaint was made the land owner would likely only get and instruction not to do it again. However it's as well to be aware of the issues, just in case...

It would be up to the pub of course. They might not know or care about planning regulations, site licences etc
Just to be clear, those attending the 'meet' would not be acting unlawfully if they were there with permission, it would be the land owner who could be acting in contravention of planning and site licence regulations.

There is a C&CC THS near Oban in June - and we have a rally (c&cc) here from 27th June. However you will have to be a member AND pay for this - the Highland Gathering earlier in the month well be free!

Hi Phil,
You are most welcome to arrange a group of you [up to 6 units] and join my gathering in the New Forest in August. There is a 50 quid fee to the land owner for each unit, but that is so cheap for a whole week.
Regards Paol.

100% agree with you. I have done many a wild camp in Aber and as long as you behave there seems no problems with locals etc. Will be there couple of times in May but then when June/July arrives it's my first choice.

Sounds good

Aber sounds good. when are we talking about? Plenty to do day and night. Where would we stay?
