Did Hobby shorten the Van Exclusive between 2009 and 2010? The 2009 Van Exclusive on a Transit chassis (T500 GESC) is 6.75 metres long, which I calculate to be 22.14 ft.

Hello Tom. There are at least two versions. The one you cite has twin longitudinally mounted beds at the back. I think there's one with a longways double bed too - even longer (6.95m?). Ours, the shorter version, has a transverse double bed at the back with roomy garage underneath, and is 6.05 metres or 19'10" long. Very very easy to drive, park etc.

Thanks for your interest. Do you have a Hobby too?

(Oh! or should that be "Doh"? I've just noticed your photo which makes my last question somewhat redundant!)

All the best

Hi Martin,

Yes, I have a Hobby Van Exclusive (T500 GESC) replacing a stolen Hobby Van Exclusive (T500 GESC). The Ford Transit Mk.6 and Mk.7 are very vulnerable to theft.

I think that, despite the transfers on the cab doors, you may find that yours is not a Van Exclusive.
If you look at the March 2011 owner's manual, for example, https://www.hobby-caravan.de/filead...gsanleitungen/RM_Ford_engl_11_BS_Komplett.pdf on page 05-1 Exterior structure there are diagrams showing the T500 GFSC and T500 FSC (Van Classic) with the transverse double and the T500 GESC (Van Exclusive) with the longitudinal twin singles with infill. Pages 06-32 and 06-33 are also quite clear as to the sleeping configuration between the different models (but the two Van Classics have suddenly just become "Van").
To eliminate any doubt, the Spares Department at Hobby Caravans UK 01773 853900) should be able to give you the correct designation for your motorhome if you phone them and provide your VIN.

Exclusive?

Hello again Tom. I'm as certain as it's possible to be that the "Exclusive" was available in the shorter length and that ours is an example. The giveaway is the window shape I believe (from the outside at any rate). Yours and ours have an odd shaped window behind the cab; the "Classic" (or just "Van") has a regular rectangular window here.

It's also described as "Hobby Van Exclusive" on the registration document. Good enough for me I reckon. Intriguing discussion though.

Now quite keen to sell it soon, I must get around to advertising it more widely.

All the best

You can't rely on what the V5C says.
My first: Make: FORD Model: TRANSIT
My second: Make: HOBBY FORD T500 GESC Model: [left blank]

Good luck with the sale, but I'd suggest making it clear what the layout is, rather than just telling people to Google Hobby Van Exclusive for the full specs.

Hobby Van Exclusive now sold

Our Hobby is now sold (and replaced!).
Thanks for all the help and advice.
I guess I should take the ad down now but have no idea how that might be achieved.
Cheers all.
