Has anyone a rough price for 2006 MY, X244 2.8 HDi Boxer / Relay / 2.8 JTD Ducato clutch replacement ?

My garage is quoting 13.5 hours so obviously that`s whacked the price right up just in labour charges :scared:

It`s now done 80,000 miles on the original clutch by me and is just starting to show signs of needing replacing :hammer:

Going to get it done before we go over the water and hit the Pyrenees with a vengeance :scared:

We used Tameside Transmissions, at Exotic Droylsden. They are set up purely for transmissions.
Even though the first clutch they fitted started to fail after a year, they changed it without a quibble.
They had the van for 4 hours, before ringing us that it was ready.
Mention our semi auto Trafic... And Wildcamping site..
Won't do any harm.
Good luck.

4 - 6 hours i could understand but 13.5 hours :scared: you could have knocked down with a feather and even the mechanic was surprised :rolleyes2:

I`ve messaged a few other places ( friday morning ) but they haven`t got back to me yet so maybe the job time is right.

A couple of places said instantly the motorhme was too big for them so that`s fair enough.

3.0 litre workshop time 9 hours and a chance of a flywheel the parts approx. £250 SO 6 hours seems low as much as the 13,5 hours seems high ,,ICME manual will give workshop times

Channa

Icme time is 7/8 hours. Average cost between £700 to £1000. If the clutch hasn’t failed you won’t need a new flywheel. Worth paying a reputable garage and using a good quality clutch if your heading abroad.

The garage i`ve used before for both the motorhome and the car, it was just the 13.5 hours job time that kinda took me by surprise :scared:

The pedal is quite high and i got the faintest hint of a tiny judder the other day so that coupled to 80,000 miles it`s done is time to change before we go abroad.

80,000 miles isn’t a lot for a clutch,my last sprinter van that I did European courier work with had done 922,000 miles when I sold it and it was still on the same clutch,
My Berlingo that I have just sold had done over 345,000 miles again o the same clutch, and my previous sprinters had all done around 500,000 miles when sold them and all on the same clutch

You must be abusing them if that's all you get from a clutch::bow:

£850 I was quoted, but sold the van instead.

I agree. Clutch pedal height has nothing to do with wear as most likely a hydraulic clutch and judder could be all manner of things. Best getting it checked professionally.

When I got my van last October I had to get the clutch done. 2004 Ducatto 2.3 diesel, 56,000 on the clock.

My garage charged me 7 hours labour on it.
