Just thinking ahead for when I upgrade the solar and battery system in the new van. This is our rear lounge TV / laptop area. It has the one single 12v socket Swift thought to put in (there are 240v sockets everywhere of course). I'm using a splitter at the moment but I hate them. I'm thinking I want a double 12v socket right in the middle between the current one and that crappy bracket the last owner put in. Might also be useful to have one with 2 usb ports also but only if they can be turned off.

Any thoughts?

I'd go for good quality 12 Volt sockets, higher amps than usb.

Obviously combined with quality fast charge usb adaptor.

Cant't have too many either, always handy. Some in a cupboard are handy to charge while driving without stuff being on open shelf.

I had a twin 12v socket panel fitted a few years ago and complemented that with two twin USB sockets a couple of years ago. Worth checking very carefully the amp rating of the USBs in order to get fast charging.

I'd go with some of the cbe range outlets to match what you already have ....

Available in many configurations .

Not cheapest ...BUT nice matching look AND decent quality .

Forget what Trev has posted unless you want it looking like a right mismatch of parts.

What you have there Barry is CBE style fittings, and to make it look right, make it match.

Take this panel in my own Motorhome ....

One of the sets is 17 years old now and the other set is less than 4 years old - but I bet you can't tell which is which :)

And if you add a whole new set in a different place, even with non-CBE part, you can still make it look OEM

Pretty much what I said a few posts back ...

I've used the generic ones in the past but generally in stuff with other generic ones.

I've tried to keep stuff in line with what was already CBE factory fitted stuff

Great suggestions guys thanks. Michelle will like the idea of matching ones, I don't really care. I think I'll go with the 12v sockets only I think and just use decent usb chargers adaptors. I just don't like the idea of parasitic draws. Hardly anything we use is usb anyway. Both our laptops have dedicated 12v chargers and I'll just charge the phones through the inverter on the fast 240v chargers.

Can I assume as these are going right above where the Sargent unit and electrics are this will not be a big job for my installer guys?

The one that might be tricky is the one under the front dinette or maybe two. Those are crucial also.

Go for Hella plugs and sockets if you want better connections than ordinary ciggie sockets. cBE do the I think

Trev's idea works well with his van, I had a similar set-up in my Panda and they did everything that I wanted but as already said if you already have CBE sets you would not be happy with a mismatch, however, on your dashboard CBE sets would look odd so Trev's option doesn't look so bad if you want to add sockets there

I also have a set below the tv plug and voltage booster as my daughter keeps her ph pluged in when driving, then a set up in the back beds for same at night.
