After 6 months of saving and searching, we have just got our 1st MH home. We live and work in south Spain, and rented one last summer touring the Andalucian coastline round Gib and up past Tarifa, up to the Portugal border. We have travelled all round the world having great holidays, but this experience was the best by far and hence we caught the bug.

After much searching the net, we decided that even with the value of the pound to euro having dropped 20%, travelling to Germany still offered us the best selection and best value for money. Spent 2 days seeing 5 second hand dealers that we had researched before hand, 4 out of 5 were offering sub standard MH's with pictures advertised on the net not reflecting the real condition of the MH. However 1 dealer north of Bremen, with a great English speaking sales chap called Carston Demmel, were fantastic and though we had to go a little above our budget of 10,000 euros, we came away with a 1997 Chausson 2.5TD MH in really top condition and we couldnt be happier.

We drove back from Germany to Almeria in Southern Spain in 3 days and arrived home 2 hours ago, and wanted to give Wildcamping a big shout.

Now I can feel part of the community and not feel a fraud ! Also, we have found this site superb in recent months and a great source of tips and helpful hints, so many thanks.

Well done Idalo Man we did the same thing 2 years ago and never looked back.
Good luck with importing into Spain and getting insurance if you are having problems you can pm me ,although I am near Valencia i may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks Hogan - may well take up your offer. I know that getting the Spanish plates is a ball ache and the 14.75% tax hurts. i share my office with a resourceful Spanish legal accountant / red tape buster that i have commissioned to take the head ache away from me and sort. i will let you know.

THANKS everybody for their support - we have sat in it on our drive all day today, eating lunch in it, cleaning it, stocking it, and getting ready for our first trip off to Malaga area on tuesday ! Cant wait. with the weather here at the moment a very enjoyable clear sunny 18 to 22 degrees, it is a very enjoyable time of year to travel around before the tourist hordes arrive later in the year.
