1984 Mercedes Hymer 660 rooflight.

I have the cracked remains of the main rooflight on the above Hymer. There's a winding mechanism and a cracked dome and whatever else is supposed to be there is missing. A series of pop studs suggest there might once have been some fabric attached and there must surely have been a fly screen as part of the set up.
Does anyone know what this originally looked like?
I'd be very grateful if you do.

Hi Raven,

We had the same roof in an ’88 655. When new I think there was an option of an insulation pad which was attached to the moulded in studs on the original dome (these studs weren’t moulded onto replacement domes as we found when buying a new one after some clumsy sod put his foot through the original while fitting a new canvas on our awning) but I’ve never seem one. Regarding a fly screen what we did to keep the little b*****s out was hem a piece of net curtaining and thread some knicker elastic through which will hold the net in place when hooked over the “turret” but after that we bought a cassette blind from one of the shows which had both bug screens and black-out which we simply screwed to the roof.

Hope that helps you.

Thankyou Ian.
I'm sure that most things in life are held together by bailing twine, gaffer tape or knicker elastic. LoL.
I did ask Hymer what it would originally have looked like but found them very unhelpful.

Hymer roof

Hi my 1993 594 has the same set up , and the previous German owner fitted the net curtain with elastic round it .
It works ok so if it ain't broke don't fix it !

hi-just wondered if you were able to source a new rooflight/or parts

as above

Hello glastry...Nope, I haven't managed to source anything yet. I can make the whole thing work with a replacement dome, if I could actually find one.
