1500w Inverter wanted

Having bought a Clarke Power 2.2kw Genny, I now don't like the hassle of carrying petrol and starting it just so the wife can use her travel hairdrier (1000w) for 5mins, also thought as the microwave is only 750w a 1500 + watt inverter would more than cope with the initial surge.

I now have a 110amp/hr battery and a 80w solar panel

So I'm looking a 12v / 240v inverter if anyone has such a thing, I see that Maplin/Silverline/Ring Automotive now sell such items for well under £100, plus all those on ebay - Does anyone have any suggestions/info on them please?

You are not going to get very long at all using the Hairdryer or Microwave with only having 1 X 80 AH Battery.

I`m sure someone will be along shortly with " Maths & Figures " and tell you how long it will be before your Battery is down to the dreaded 50%.

Inverter

To produce 240v from 12v is a ratio of 20 to 1, .... amps are 1 to 20 therefore 1amp at 240 takes 20 at 12v the 1000w ( 4a ) hair drier will require roughly 80a of battery power

My 1800watt inverter is powered by 375ah of batteries and 300watt of solar

The 750 watts for the Microwave is the heating power output the mains input is much more than this

Say about 1200 watts thus at 12 volts the inverter will pulling about 100 amps :rolleyes2:

Just measured my 700W microwave on 240v was pulling a shade under 1300W. As the previous poster mentioned the oven rating is the cooking power (output) and not the actual power used.

The specification label near the cable entry point will state the actual power consumption
