Hi just purchased a 12v flat screen tv (roadstar LTD-1088xskl) , it has a cigarette lighter plug to a dc input I've tested it on cigarette lighter and works fine but that is connected to engine battery, I now want to connect it to the plugs in camper, should I take any precortions when pluging it into plug sockets in the van, for exaample will it still be ok when the van is conected to mains hookup.

Also I have a 87 autosleeper zig unit wich has a 12v socket could any one tell me where I could purchase the socket to fit this.

Thanks again cant wait to get it on road now:):):):):dance::dance:

Kind regards Andrew

If a TV comes with the 12v cigarette power cable/plug then it will fine to use on a 12v socket in the habitation area of the motorhome when the motorhome is charging on mains etc as the TV will have the necessary electronics to even out the input voltage to 12v. (most TVs when using the 12v cable will be happy with anywhere between 11v and 30v)

As far as the zig plug/socket you need have a look on ebay or visit a caravan/motorhome dealer, you will find an adaptor to make it into a normal cigarette lighter socket.

Thats a great help

I did have an older Roadstar and I can confirm that they work on 12 volt when on mains hook up as it is a seperate system. The Roadstar is a very good make and have been around for many a year for truckers.
You may find the plug that you need at Maplins.
You could run a wire along from the Zig or from any other suitable 12 V wire as long as it has the appropriate fuse and wire loading and then fit a Din or Cig socket where you feel is a suitable location. anywhere.
Our Roadstar did have voltage surge protection, I would imagine that your also has.
