Very interesting. I see it needs a lighter socket rated at 20 amps. Anyone know what the standard socket is rated at?

i fixed a crappy pug 106 the other day that was blowing 20amp fuses, when i found the cause, it turned out to be the cancer stick lighter had welded together. thus blowing the fuse all the time.

so the moral to me story is:D if a crappy pug 106 has a 20 amp lighter fuse, i think all others will be rated at this. it does take a lot of current to make the thing glow.

just check in your fuse pannel.

Change the plug and socket for a HELLA type..
Then if you MUST use cancersticks get a Hella to standard ciggy lighter adapter, always on Ebay

Same goes for 'leccy coolboxes, my Halfords ones plug melted :eek:
since changing to a Hella, no probs even when running for 20 hours plus :)

Maplins Portable Microwave

Hi everyone,

I have one of these Maplin microwaves.

They are portable, they are quite heavy (I think) and they Do work and are very simple to use.
They have long 'wires' to the battery and a shorter fused
'wire' to the cigarette lighter hole... you choose either /or. (it takes longer to cook if you use the cigarette lighter connection . The battery connection is faster)

They had a 'shelf' originally but now they dont and the part mentioning it has been blanked out in the instructions. Interesting as it says its faster if you use the shelf!!

The trouble I had was finding somewhere to keep it. Although the actual microwave inside is about 2/3rds of the size of a regular microwave the outside casing is bigger with a fold down handle.

I store it and just put it on the unit top when using it. Although I said it was heavy its not as heavy as a regular simple microwave.

Its cheap and does the job....and its guaranteed for a year.

Hope the above helps. They are selling fast so I am told. The Maplins I went to only had one but you can buy online ...with free delivery.

I would be interested to hear other peoples opinion.....
