Just bought a 12v tv for the motorhome

Electric supply (12v) next to aerial input is the 2 flat pin style

TV I have has a 240 volt plug with stepdown transformer

If I just cut the lead out from tv power lead and splice it into a 2 flat pin plug will this be enough or do I need something extra to protect the tv?

Check this out

You have to scrap the mains lead and the transformer altogether and buy something like this.

12V LED and LCD TV to cigarette lighter adapter lead. | eBay

Then you have to cut the cig lighter plug off and put your 12v flat pin plug in its place. You can hunt about and maybe find a flat pin plug and lead already made up somewhere. Each lead on Ebay tells you what TV it will fit but most are similar. That lead just plugs into the back of the TV.
.... Tom ....

Sorry

Yes just realized what you mean. If you cut the tranny out and add the 12v plug to the TV side of the lead that should be fine.

I got a new 12v TV a few months ago off Amazon,21" for £100 which I thought was a bargain,it wasn't a brand I'd ever heard of and when I got the TV I noticed the sticker with the name on the front was a bit lop sided so I pulled it off. Underneath was the original brand name embossed onto the plastic, Polaroid,I thought they only made cameras, don't really understand why it had been rebranded with an unknown name.

Finding a suitable spot for a 15 inch tv is tough enough, never mind 21 inches!

I paid £30 for mine

It folds into the side of the wardrobe perfectly!
30 quid is certainly cheap enough, makes you wonder what hourly rate the drones are on that assemble them?

Mossy, what you are suggesting is fine - its what I've done as well. Make sure the polarity is correct though!

power lead

The one in 1st picture is from a 12v cooler box. it is different to a stereo 240v or vcr power Leads?.
the second picture, this one is for my 35 watt 19 inch television, as you see its rated for double the watts and 5amps
This from amazon 7.99 + postage
