Isle of Arran
Harris Lewis
Orkney
Shetland
Mull
Jura
Mull of Galaway
Caledonian Canal (Loch Ness)

Cor the list goes on but Im not going for a while. Im off at the weekend and Im heading south until its warm enough for shorts.

Hi Personaly I think it doesnt matter where you go anywhere north of Loch Lomond.
You can't beat the scenery and the further north you go the better it seems to get.
I personaly would reccomend the road to the isles B8008 Arisaig - Morar for sandy beaches and fantastic veiws of the inner hebridies.
If you have a small m/h or van type m/h then the road to Applecross belach na ba For stunning veiws over to skye (Not for the faint hearted)As its a steep and winding single track road.
And for peace and tranquility you cant beat Sheigra just past kinlochbervie camp on the beach and prety much have the stars for company.

Regards Alan

A few years ago me and a mate in a VW camper did the film locations for Local Hero and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Camped on the beach at Pennin near the famous red phone box (local Hero) and stood on the walls of the Castle where the French taunted King Arthur (Stirling Castle, Holy Grail) as well as loads of others. We thought we would be the only ones to think of doing it and when we got to Stirling Castle the shop was selling Python dolls and even flipping coconuts!

Saw some great scenery and it gave the trip a purpose, all be it a futile one.

I like to visit Breamar and walk in the mountains of Glenshee. You can stop on the car park opposite the police station at Breamar, with toilets and water available, and just a few miles drive your in the mountains, with some great scenery and great wilding places.
You could go on forever, but sure you will find lots of great places by chance, and lots in the Scotland forum.

Happy Camping:)

As Alzi1967 says almost anywhere N of the central belt will be fantastic, but there are also places in the borders, Dumfries & Galloway and Southern Argyll - especially the Knapdale peninsula. Follow your instinct and the good weather - we only go for short trips during the summer but watch the forecast on BBC and Metcheck and head in the direction of the best weather. We always find somewhere good to stop. The Highlands are full of wildernesses :D

Agree with everything said so far but thought I put in a word for Aberdeenshire - and not just because Jenny's family come from Peterhead! The east coast has some wonderful wildcamping opportunities - Cruden Bay harbour even has a regular fish and chip van - and some of the best beaches in the country. The north coast has, in addition to some wonderful wilding sites, almost guaranteed sightings of dolphins along the Moray Firth. In addition, if you get fed up with wilding, Aberdeenshire Council runs several very good value campsites (look up their website). All that and inland you have some of the best malts in Scotland - its a pity its snowing at the moment or I'd be up there with you. Happy travels.
