  1. Caravan & Motorhome Club New Booking System

N E Bay is a great spot in the old council camp site - we use it quite a bit, and I think its just jealousy from the C&MC members (we are actualy a member, but would never use a member site - just CL's)
  2. Wheel Weight rating

Its also quite likely the offset is wrong as well, I would never risk it.
  3. New batteries

Personally, I have found lead carbon to be a good compromise (I have a couple of Leoch 268Ah 6V ones). If you can fit them in, these would be my choice... https://www.wildebus.com/product/110ah-gel-leadcarbon-battery/
  4. Air Diesel Night Heater

The problem is the pump in these heaters is a bit puny so will struggle to pull oil up a long large bore pipe. Will be fine if your tank is above the heater of course. The difference between 2mm I.d. and 3mm I.d. makes a difference. Good luck, Dave.
  5. Air Diesel Night Heater

It only needs to be a high current for the initial surge, and 20A is probably too high, 10A may be enough, but they are cheap enough. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313264432301?hash=item48f003e4ad:g:yVYAAOSw1vFfjUws Plenty of sellers on ebay from £10 - £20. I also highly recommend changing the...
  6. Air Diesel Night Heater

I use one of the £80 all in one 5KW types off ebay - been great in my workshop over the last year or so. You need to buy a decent 12v power supply (20A) but they are only about £15. I run mine off heating oil, and ditched the tiny tank that it came with, and use a 10 gallon tank. It uses about...
  7. BRIGHTER LIGHTS

For bulbs, I find the Osram nightbreaker silver (+100%) bulbs are excellent. They do more powerful ones, but these dont last long. Same wattage as your existing bulbs, so no problems with wiring / alternator capacity.
  8. Inverter

With a diesel heater you will definately get a warm van, with a 500w heater it will struggle if temps are anywhere near zero. My 2kw webasto diesel heater gets my (small) van toasty warm, even at -10C. As mentioned, fitting one is not neccesirily a big job, especially if someone with the same...
  9. Inverter

Its not so much how long the batteries would last (3 hours would take your batteries to around 25% with inverter inefficiencies), but how (b2b / solar/ ehu etc) you then recharge them fully again. I would try and get the diesel heater fitted asap! Good luck.
  10. Travel in Iran - from london

I had a look over this at the overland show a couple of weeks ago. Its certainly got the pedigree a new conversion wouldnt have, and has actually been tested in anger. Obviously its OTT if never used off road. Fuel consumption may be an issue as well.
  11. Cameron McNeish on no camping zones

Dead right - it is all about the 'onlookers views' that so easily get wrongly put on facebook or similar where the facts get in the way of a good story. I have a similar problem, in that I need to fill a (single) jerry can with fuel for my chainsaw - you can bet I will get a few dirty looks at...
  12. New overnights in north wales

I liked that little spot as well ... last time I was there a couple of years ago was in my series 1 landrover - I obviously didnt overnight in it !
  13. Compressor fridge cycling times

Time to get your google translate app on your phone on to it! Most likely a reset button though (Its exactly like the one on my house immersion heater overheat reset) Press it with a pen and see if it works, but would be the first thing to check if your fridge stops. Cheers from Stratford. Dave.
  14. Dumfries and Galloway anyone?

Well at least Loch Doon is in Ayrshire, so it cant spoil the Dumfries and Glloway reputation! there used to be so many burnt out caravans up there, but it all got cleared up, however last year the lockdown crowds arrived......
  15. Auchenmalg

A nice walk is around the beach to the old chapel (steps up from beach). Also an easy walk to Monreith along the cliff path. Also, keep an eye out for the dolphins.
  16. Auchenmalg

much nicer to carry on down to the st medan golf club (below Monreith) - great beach yards from your door, and much quieter. This photo taken a month ago
  17. first solar camper

Quite like this - its 4wd as well https://www.electrifying.com/blog/article/x-marks-the-spot-for-30k-german-electro-camper
  18. Dumfries and Galloway anyone?

Can get very very busy down there especially at weekends, despite the pictures. Its too close and accesible to Glasgow. I think the forest drive is still closed there as well (due to too many undesireables abusing it).
  19. £30 a night no facilities what planet are they on

Thats the black waste grey waste and water points!! Fantastic site - we have stayed there a couple of times.
