I think it was covid last year and they late opening this year.
They used to be open for day visits over winter (we used to go there on a sunny day) but of course with covid they had to remain completely closed.
One of the problems is being contracted out and if I understand it correctly it saved the individual a small amount of money but it also saved the employer money.
Interesting story. When I bought my new car,
I also purchased a 3 year service plan (£300) to match the 3 year warranty.
On the 3rd year I again took it in for service (all at the same dealer) and when I collected it I was presented with a 6 foot long paper list of items and a huge financial...
It was the same with a lot of big firms, at our retirement seminars they said we needed 35 years of NI they did not mention that some of our years were contracted out.
For example I did 40 years with the same firm but still needed another 6 extra years.
