NC500 hate - and beyond.

Interesting discussion, so we don't just hate the immigrants we also hate; motorhomers, campers, gypsies, English, tourists, um and anyone else that can be thought of at the time.

However I have never been in favour of posting specific routes and places for special favour as it has the unfortunate result of attracting the world and his wife. One of the reasons I have only been to Cornwall once in my van but have had some great times in Essex, Norfolk and Lincolnshire.
And as far as I can remember no one showed that they hated me.

As Newbies Scotland was our first destination, we went all over Scotland including the NC500 we stopped at some really great places from as little as £5 per night with a 23 ft motorhome, we never encountered any hostility and found everyone we came across as polite and pleasant.
We will definitely be going back 😂

I have toured a bit of Scotland and never had any problems with the people or the places just have to be polite and respectful same as Cornwall I go at least four times a year and never met any hostility from locals. Maybe I’m just lucky lol.😎

But did you have a Spurs logo on the back of the van 😉

We recieved more hostility from locals in Southern Ireland when doing the Wild Atlantic Way than doing NC500.
With the NC500 it was anti MHers, in S. Ireland it was anti English.
Also received anti MHers dislike in England and Wales, plus anti English dislike in parts of Wales.
In all instances it was and is the minority.

Had to beat a hazy retreat from a country pub in S.Ireland once. Ordered a drink at the bar, barman totally ignored me and served someone else. Walked over in front of him, ordered again and he did the same thing, he turned away and served someone else. I called him out and asked if he had a problem with the English. Turned out that everyone in the bar did, as all went quiet, heads turned our way and some of them got up from their chairs.
We made hasty retreat at this point as I'm rather attached to my knee caps!
I regret to say that sentiment has spread across Europe, not all places of course however it's noticeable.
For some it seems that UK aggression has gained traction and elitism.
Large UK stickers have been pointed out to me and thought to be from another country not thought highly of it seems.
Whatever the reasons and I suspect many their has been a noticeable change.

Many many French camping car owners asked us if we was from Ukraine.

No, i answered we are from Great Britain, they replied what was wrong with GB we knew that so i answered after B*ex*t we are now UK.

Ahhhhhhhhh that rubbish they said and laughed.

I've thought about this and I can't honestly remember any animosity on my travels all over the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe since I was a teenager. Dare I say this but the grumpiest people I have come across abroad have been fellow Brits. They are happy to wave at you on the road but not so friendly if you meet them on an Aire or a site. Not all but some for sure. Some of them most definitely give off a bit of an unfriendly vibe. Maybe they do that with Johnny Foreigner as well. Maybe its us thats the problem perhaps?

I've had the odd jibe and cold stare, nothing serious. However, I've met people who have had things thrown at them and damage to MH's - even in the country I love above all others, NZ.
Ignorance, envy, meanness and just sheer twattiness all play their part.
Definitely got/getting worse.

Scots, Welsh and Irish are fellow Brits Barry.

To be fair though, there are good and bad in all countries and probably in similar proportions. I find that most Brits I meet are reasonably decent people but then it could be that I am so damned charming? 😐

Never wave . If you do the twats will come and talk to you , invite you over for a fekkin cuppa etc .
Never smile , make no eye contact and you should be ok

I don't ever wave for the reason I stated above. Its all false. I can guarantee you that if some twat waves at me on the road and I see them on an Aire later and go running across with my guitar to see what booze they have to share with me so we can have a party they don't want to know! Twunts! Whats wrong with these people!
